Win an Autographed Photo of Winnipeg Jets New Superstar Dustin “Big Buff” Byfuglien

July 4, 2011

UPDATE: NHL Star Dustin Byfuglien Dons Winnipeg Jets Sweater for the First Time

For the last week, Panini America has been giving collectors a behind-the-scenes look at one of the NHL’s marquee events. What we didn’t know was just how popular showing images of Dustin Byfuglien in what COULD be his new uni would be. Just minutes after posting a pic of “Big Buff” sporting a Winnipeg jersey, Jets fans took to the World Wide Web, posting and tweeting the pic to the masses.

The former Chicago Blackhawks and Atlanta Thrashers star joined Panini America at its booth, signing hundreds of free autographs for hockey-thirsty collectors. The former Stanley Cup champion took time at the end to don a Winnipeg Jets uniform and we can only hope that the team uses the retro jersey as one of their own.

We had Byfuglien sign a few extra photo’s to give away on The Knight’s Lance. All you have to do to be eligible to win is post here what you thought of our Draft coverage and what you think the Jets will do this year. That’s it.

Make sure to check our our Draft coverage if you missed it. We recently posted a video of the top picks from round one.

Panini America on Location: Our Exclusive Video Diary from the 2011 NHL Draft

We’ll select FOUR lucky winners at random to win signed photo’s from Big Buff. Good luck and Happy 4th!

I think the draft coverage was awesome, always great to get behind the scenes looks at what goes on at such an important event. As for the Jets, I think they will perform better than the Thrashers from the 2010 season. With nightly sold out crowds to play to, the adrenaline will be pumping, but I would classify them as a fringe/bubble playoff team.

Very nice having coverage of the draft, just shows you how far we have come from the days of even wondering if there was even an NHL draft. Great to see support for the NHL. As for the Jets, they won’t do any better this year than last. Relocation will take alot more out of this team than anyone realizes.

I think its great that you guys show behind the scenes coverage of events like this. For fans who cannot make it to the events, it gives us a taste of what we missed. Keep them coming!!

I think the Jets are going to have a solid season and will make it into the playoffs. I dont think they will get far once in the playoffs, but with sell out crowds and a city that support them, I think they will do much better than last year. With players like Byfuglien and Kane coupled with solid goaltending from Pavelec, Winnipeg inherited a solid team. GO JETS GO!!

Good job with the draft coverage. The Jets, I think they’ll have a great year but fall short of the final goal, going out early in the play-offs.

Your draft coverage was great. It’s cool to see what goes on there. The move to Winnipeg will lead them to a better season than last year, not Playoff bound yet, but maybe in the upcoming years.

I thought the Draft coverage was great. It was cool to hear the players talk about their draft day experiences and their card collecting.

I was a big Thrashers fan and have decided to follow the team in Winnipeg. I think they’ll have a tough year this year, missing the playoffs, but then make them the following season.

Excellent coverage of the draft. Great to see a hockey card company so heavily involved at the show! I’m from manitoba, and the buzz surrounding this team is incredible. No matter their performance on the ice in year 1, I’m confident that this team will capture the hearts of fans, and provide a boost to minor hockey province-wide. Being involved in the playoff hunt will also help the cause!

Great coverage. Never really followed hockey much until this year. I am beginning to become a fan!

draft coverage was great–good to see from another point of view–I commented earlier that I love the Buff pose in the Jets jersey—I still see them as being about what the Thrashers were

I loved the draft coverage yOu guys gave! Absolutely fabulous! As for the Jets, I think they will fare slightly better than the past year but that they won’t improve too much. Possibly be in the hunt for the 8 seed. Thanks for the contest Panini!

The draft coverage you guys provided was excellent, I love hearing hockey players talk about how they used to collect hockey cards and how excited they are to see themselves on a card. The Jets should hopefully do good this season, I’m really rooting for them. It honestly barely matters how good they do, what matters most is that hockey is back in Winnipeg. I’m not so sure about their first round draft pick in Mark Scheifele at No. 7 overall, but they must see something in the kid so hopefully he has a long and successful carreer.

Top notch draft coverage. I do hope the Jets keep the retro jersey as at least a 3rd jersey as well, but with all the modernization of jerseys in recent season I am unsure. I think this year will be a transition year for the club, and they’ll make the playoffs in the 2012-13 season!

Great draft coverage ! Its always nice to see what goes on behind the scenes. As for the Jets they may need a few years to adjust to become play-off contenders. Thanks guys !!

It was really cool to get the behind-the-scenes look at what happens with the players after they get their big moment on stage. We haven’t really had much of that experience before, and it’s neat that Panini brought this coverage to fans & collectors.
As for the Jets, they’re a good young team but I think this year may be just a bit short of making the playoffs.

Thought the draft coverage was great, behind the scenes looks are always awesome to see. I think the Jets will have some success this year, with their fans behind them. Those fans will be crazy for that team and they’ll build off of that

Great draft day coverage, loved seeing interviews and photois of the prospects in their new sweaters. I don’t see Winnipeg neing much better than they were as the Thrashers yet – though as a Hawks fan, I do miss Byfuglien, and especially Andrew Ladd.

I really enjoyed the draft coverage, tiding me over while NBA and NFL off season is non-existence. I hope Winnipeg makes the playoffs and pulls off a miraculous run to the finals. Be a great story for hockey!

I thnik the draft coverage was very good, and great behind-the-scenes look of that the players do after they get drafted. The Jets will probably not make the playoffs next year, but after that… look out, they will be a force to be rekoned with if their prospects and draft picks exceed their potential.

You guys did an amazing job on the draft coverage. Thanks for the contest. I think the Jets will shock a lot of teams. They could be in the midst of a playoff run.

Any extra coverage is great for the fans and the card companies. Also the NHL.The pics were fantastic. As far as the Jets congrates to Winnipeg,I do not think playoffs this year still missing a couple of pieces.

I think the first round coverage was excellent, but tended to taper off a bit towards the end of the second round towards the end. I know that the media only likes to focus on the top rookie class players, but I think it is a little unfair to the remaining players who get drafted to not have them even mentioned on television.
As for the Jets, I think they will surprise a lot of people and make the first round of the playoffs. As for going beyond that, that will depend on the team. The Jets are on the cusp of greatness especially when still playing in the Eastern Conference this next season.

To know that a card company takes such vested interest in the sport of hockey shows how dedicated they are to make a product that will really connect with the fans and collectors who fuel the hobby…All I can say about the Winnipeg Jets is that the moment they announce their new jersey and have it on sale, it will cause all sorts of lines outside the NHL store in NYC.
