Panini America Provides a Pre-Ink Peek at 2011 Prime Cuts Baseball (10 New Images)

February 26, 2012

Most of the rush and clamor and buzz of activity in the Panini America Acquisitions department these days has revolved around getting our newest NFL, NBA and NHL on-card autograph efforts out the door. But late last week, the Production department delivered a fresh batch of new signature-required specimens to add to the list.

And as you’re about to see, the plans we have for the March release of 2011 Prime Cuts Baseball are sweet indeed.

The following quick-hit gallery should add some buzz to your Sunday afternoon with sneak peeks at some of the Prime Cuts’ soon-to-be-signed gems, including several new subjects from the brand’s popular Notable Nicknames insert.

We’ll have tons more Prime Cuts coverage in the coming days, including exclusive video that takes you behind the scenes at a signing session we did on Friday with the incomparable Deion Sanders.

But until then, here’s hoping the following 10 images serve as a sufficient whistle-whetter.

Like the idea. Just don’t like seeing legends like Ernie Banks and future greats sign a card that has their picture but no team logo.

Some good names in there, but the airbrushed uniforms and hats really makes the cards look generic. I know there is nothing you can do about that, but it is unfortunate.

That being said, I think the cut autos and bat barrels/knobs (if you have any) is really what people are after with this product.

So how many of these are expected to be redemptions? Meaning, these will look great when you, if ever, get them sent to you a year later at the earliest. Instead of adding new product, how about taking care of old product with all the redemrpions that people are waiting on?
