The Panini America Weekend Reveal: 2012 Rookies & Stars Statistical Standouts

August 12, 2012

Bright and early tomorrow morning, Panini America officials will begin packing out perennial pigskin favorite 2012 Rookies & Stars Football, the company’s fourth NFL-licensed trading card product of the 2012 season following on the heels of promising precursors PrestigeScore and Elite.

This weekend, in an effort to ready collectors for Rookies & Stars’ release, The Knight’s Lance is previewing a few sweet inserts from the product, beginning with yesterday’s glimpse at the 30-card Greatest Hits, an in-your-face tribute to some of the game’s top defenders with impactful two-photo fronts. Today, we deliver the first look at Statistical Standouts.

In addition to honoring the greatest numbers generators from the 2011 season, Statistical Standouts is not a bad insert set to have around come fantasy draft time. After perusing the eye-popping statistical feats featured on these cards, you’ll see exactly what we mean.

Enjoy this sneak peek and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance tomorrow for a complete glorious recap of the Quality Control process for 2012 Rookies & Stars Football. I know, we can’t wait either.

I think they are kind of blah. I like the crisp, clean card look, but there’s no *pop* to them. R&S has always had great eye-popping inserts, and I think some colored foil would have set these off great. Can’t wait for R&S to be released!

Appreciate the feedback. I think there may indeed be foil elements to these cards, but I won’t know for sure until I see the actual finished product tomorrow. Stay tuned for images tomorrow.

Hope these have foil. I like the design and layout. And of course like the Eli.

Any Cardinals going to be on there? How about Patrick Peterson and his punt return yardage record? Or Calais Campbell and his blocked field goals? Or just the Cardinals in general with 4 overtime wins?

Some guys are ‘in front’ of the silver design bar and some are ‘behind’ it. (Stafford, Newton). Interesting. Looks a lot like 2012 Prestige. Is there a GU parallel of each?

Totally loving the well thought-out sets. Set-builders rejoice, there’s reason to begin assembling for a reason other than, “just because!”

    Tracy,
By your comments I sense a pack out is coming soon I hope. Will there be pictures of the rookie cards, these are my favorite every year. Please try to throw in the Tannehill if you can.
    Thanks and great work.

Good looking insert set, is this the full checklist or are there others? Also, any memorabilia or autograph variations? Thanks Tracy!

Looks great Tracy! Will there be autographed versions like the last few years? Please say yes because that Aaron Rodgers would look great in my A-Rodg collection!
