Panini America Shares Highlights from the First Box of 2012-13 NBA Hoops Basketball

August 16, 2012

I have a confession to make: The Panini America Marketing team didn’t wait until its traditional taping of Panini Unwrapped — like we normally do — to open our first box of 2012-13 NBA Hoops. Like most basketball collectors, we simply couldn’t wait.

So when Humberto Percy dropped off the marketing allotment of Hoops boxes last night, it was too late to film Panini Unwrapped — but I decided to crack the wrap on that first box anyway. Like I said, I couldn’t resist. Not to worry, we used another fresh box to film Panini Unwrapped this morning — and that must-see episode is coming later along with a chance for you to win one of four boxes.

As for last night’s first box? While we didn’t capture it on video, I did document the myriad highlights from the behemoth 36-pack break with my trusty iPhone camera. What follows is a massive 70-image first-box recap showcasing some base cards, many of the Rookie Cards from our historic Double Rookie Class, the Glossy and Artist’s Proofs parallels, the inserts, the autographs, the first installment of Kobe Anthology — you know, a little bit of everything.

So dive into the following gallery as you prepare for tomorrow’s release of 2012-13 NBA Hoops — and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for that aforementioned episode of Panini Unwrapped.

Good looking release again this year Tracy, a nice way for the casual fan like myself to learn the new players and get an introduction to the impending season. Thanks for the gallery!

Sharp gallery and an excellent primer for the ’12-’13 season.
Last season’s model was a really fun amd affordable break. How enjoyable? I used 3 boxes as part of my “Winter Reading” Program at the library. The kids manupulated the stats’ in the flip-side of the cards in a manner similar to pack-wars, and then they kept the cards! I have those kids…and would-be participants begging me to run the program again.
The kids certainly enjoyed the game, which is challenging, but keeping the cards (and the Dunleavy ‘graph) was the highlight!

Interesting product! I like the idea of the “COACH CARDS” because I can them signed in-person when I autograph at Sacramento Kings games for the away team? Nice design and looks like a big improvement compared to the last hoops!

Looking forward to the new prestige basketball! When is the official release date on that?

Tracy are you guys ever going to bring back PANINI Studio Basketball! That was the best box ever because in-person autographers love getting those signed by the athletes! If you do that would be amazing!

Why didn’t you guys do anything to indicate a player is a rookie? I couldn’t tell you the last time I have seen this. I personally don’t like it.
