Panini America Previews the Pen Pals Insert Coming in 2012 Prime Signatures Football

September 23, 2012

Fifteen cards. Fifty-one autographs. That’s the quick math at work in the ink-addled gallery that follows previewing the vaunted Pen Pals insert coming later this season to 2012 Prime Signatures Football. The incredible display of ink was collected by Panini America at last May’s 2012 NFLPA Rookie Premiere and includes on-card signatures from more than 25 of the top rookies from this season.

The venerable Pen Pals insert has been one of the hobby’s most adored multi-player autograph inserts since its landmark debut way back in 1998 as part of the Inscriptions brand. In the 15 seasons since, more than 340 single cards — featuring veteran stars and first-year phenoms alike — have carried the Pen Pals name.

But with one of the most high-upside rookie crops in years gracing this year’s installment, look for the Pen Pals franchise to receive a considerable boost in profile and secondary-market performance when 2012 Prime Signatures releases late this season.

Until then, we get you ready for another glorious NFL Sunday with this extensive preview gallery. Enjoy.

Sweet set. There are some brilliant PenPal autos from the original sets, Marino/Montana, Aikman/Irvin, Favre/Elway, Rice/Sanders, Young/Elway/Aikman… those are legends of the fall right there. I love the fact that Panini is putting effort into buffing-up the set. It’s a seminal set, no joke.

Paul, my store just did a signing with Derek over the weekend. Incredibly nice guy and one heck of a football player.

    Tracy,
That triple auto with Tannehill, Miller, and Egnew is awesome. These look very sharp, do know will these have pretty limited print runs?
    Great work as always.

Wow! Pulling Autos of the BIG STARS keeps my customers very happy. When my customers are happy, I’m happy. Panini has been very generous with Robert Griffin III autos and Andrew Luck autos in all your products. THANKS PANINI ! I look forward to seeing HUGE HITS of RG3 & Luck Prime Signatures by my customers.

Great looking insert set as always, excellent decision to add it to the Prime Sigs brand as well. After all these years I still haven’t landed one :( Thanks Tracy!
