A Can’t-Miss Episode of Panini Unwrapped: 2012 Black Football (with Checklist)

December 20, 2012

BLACK_BLOG_THUMB

Panini America’s Tracy Hackler and Scott Prusha sat down yesterday afternoon with one box of arguably the most anticipated new NFL product of the season: 2012 Black Football. In this must-see episode of Panini Unwrapped, the daring duo goes card-by-card through that box to provide a stunning preview of what collectors can expect. We’ve also provided the complete 2012 Black checklist at the bottom of this post.

But this is no ordinary Panini Unwrapped. Stay tuned till the bitter, bitter end to find out what happens when Hackler pays off a most unfortunate Australian Football League fantasy debt.

After you’ve watched the video and perused the checklist, we’re going to give you a chance to win some of the hits from this particular box (as well as a few boxes of 2012 Black Football) just for answering three quick questions as a comment to this post:

1. Who’s your favorite NFL player to collect?

2. What’s your favorite NFL team to collect?

3. What’s the single favorite Panini America NFL trading card in your collection? (If you can add a pic with you holding that card, even better)?

Enjoy the video, good luck with the contest and thanks in advance for your participation. Oh, and here’s the checklist: 2012 Black FB Checklist

    1. Emmitt Smith!

    2. I suppose by default the Cowboys, although I really only collect Emmitt at this point.

    3. I don’t have any recent blockbuster Emmitt (stupid collecting budget), but I am a big fan of the Certified Immortals insert set. To pick just one card, I’d go with the blue parallel. Sharp looking card!

How many hat relic cards do you see, I also love the square I got as it’s the first part of the Dolphins logo so I can pinpoint exactly what piece of the hat I have. http://screencast.com/t/e6lJnc3Owuq

I hate you guys ( just kidding!!!!) I bought a 15 box case of the new Panini Black and being a Die Hard Giants Fan living in Eagles territory in Delaware I have not pulled a single Rueben Randle or David Wilson card in all of the 15 boxes. I have been a Giants fan ever since I was in diapers. I visit the Giants training camp in Albany New York every year and go to at leat 4 Giants games a year. I would love the chance to win that Rueben Randle Auto you pulled from that box of black!!! P.S that Vegemite portion was hilarious.

    1. Who’s your favorite NFL player to collect? Going to have to go with my man Kendall Hunter, have a very large personal collection of him. I think he will become a stud!

    2. What’s your favorite NFL team to collect? The New York Jets…. This year has a been very rough I believe we are going to have to start fresh.

    3. What’s the single favorite Panini America NFL trading card in your collection? (If you can add a pic with you holding that card, even better)? From 2011 Playbook. 8 way patch #3/25 of LeSean McCoy, Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice, Arian Foster, Rashard Mendenhall, Michael Turner, Frank Gore, and MJD. The patches on this thing are incredible the MJD is even the jaguars logo. Such a nasty card I get scared taking it out of its case!!!

Two Panini Unwrapped videos in one day!?!? I would love more of these days.
    1. My favorite NFL player to collect is Andre Johnson. He’s been my favorite player ever since he entered the league.
    2. My favorite NFL team to collect is the New England Patriots since I live in Massachusetts and have always been a fan growing up.
    3. My single favorite Panini America NFL trading card in my collection would have to be 2011 Panini Timeless Treasures Rookie Recruits Materials Ryan Mallett. I haven’t gotten my hands on a lot of Panini products yet and though it is not an auto card, I really like this card because it looks very patriotic and even has a piece of his jersey on it. …and she just smiled and gave me a veggiemite sand-which (little Men at Work reference there).

I used to love watching Australian Rules football back in the day. When the ref guy would come out from behind the three goal posts and give that little two gun salute move-just great stuff!

    Anyway:

1-favorite NFL player to collect this year would have to be RG III

2-favorite team has to be the Eagles for my Philly sports card wall in my classroom. Despite their wretched season, still gotta stay true.

3-soounds hokey, but I think my favorite Panini Football card is coming on Christmas. I have it on pretty good authority that the Big Red Guy will be bringing some Panini Football Cards for me for Christmas under the tree and I think my favorite card is waiting his arrival and my pack opening fun that ensues. 3. 2004 Donruss LImited Hardwear Jake Plummer. 01/25 and the only eye from the Broncos logo on the helmet I have EVER been able to find! (On a side note, can’t wait for Stadium Stars in Panini Limited. The return of helmet cards!!!)

    3. I would say it is my 2011 Absolute Terry Bradshaw auto jersey numbered to 10 but unfortunately I am still waiting on the redemption to be filled so until then I would probably have to say it is my 2011 Absolute Jack Lambert auto jersey card numbered 04/25. I recently started collecting again around March so I have yet to land a 1/1 but I think I have a nice collection. This is a pic of what I think is the top four cards in my collection minus the Terry Bradshaw redemption and all of which I managed to pull myself.

    1. Patrick Willis – Just an absolute beast (I played LB in school, and now coach high school LBs, so he is a player that I reference quite a bit for my kids to learn from)
    2. Don’t really have a favorite team to collect, but I guess the Dallas Cowboys by default since they are my local team and I grew up watching them win Super Bowls. (not so much now…)
    3. From back in the Donruss days: 2008 Gridiron Gear Adrian Peterson “A.D.” Playbook 2 color patch /25. Very cool looking card from a great player.

Here’s a link to the card (hopefully it works): http://instagram.com/p/G-ApziNuxA/

Dont worry about the other cards, its in the middle on the bottom row. Thanks!

My favorite player to collect is A.J. Green. I guess its no surprise with that being said that my favorite team to collect is the Cincinnati bengals. I have been a fan for a long time and remember as a child Breaking down and crying when they lost the super bowl to the 49ers lol. The orange and black patches of the bengals look great on a Panini black card. Especially when its a gold ink auto. Perfect match!

My Favorite card is a Jordan Shipley 2011 limited #d to 25. I know he doesn’t play for the bengals anymore but before he was injured he was an outstanding slot receiver. He is also a very solid human being and all around nice guy. Charter is import. I love this card because the Patch is beautiful. I will add the picture of me with this card as my profile picture. THank you Panini for an outstanding card and Black is amazing!

My favorite player to collect is A.J. Green. No surprise The bengals are my favorite team and have been for as long as I can remember. As a child I remember breaking down and crying when they lost the super bowl to the 49ers. I love the orange and black bengals patches in Black. With the black background of the card its a perfect match. Couple that with a Gold auto and you have a down right beautiful card! LOVE BLACK. Outstanding product.

My favorite card is My 2011 limited jordan shipley patch auto #d to 25. Though he doesnt play for the Bengals anymore due to injury he was an outstanding slot receiver. He is also a good guy with great caricature. What I love about this card is the patch is absolutely sick! I love it. I will add my holding the card as my profile picture.
Thanks again for another GREAT release and great product.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS to Panini staff and all you blogers

My favorite player to collect has been Frank Gore, since he’s been carrying my team for years. It’s becoming Colin Kaepernick, though. It’s nice to be able to see my team develop a future.

My favorite team to collect is the 49ers.

My favorite card is a 1/1 2011 Playoff Contenders Quad Ink Signatures of the 49ers (Gore, Crabtree, Davis, and Braylon Edwards… for some reason). I sold the Cam Newton rookie auto I pulled in order to purchase the redemption for this card. I didn’t know it was 1/1 until I received it!

Thanks for putting out the best football product!
