The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2012 Prizm Football (The Must-See Part 1)

January 21, 2013

2012 Prizm Football Part One QC Gallery (20)

It’s fitting, really, that Panini America’s 2012 Prizm Football releases next Wednesday, on the eve of Super Bowl XLVII. After all, the biggest game of the 2012 NFL season needs a trading-card equivalent, one that delivers all the hype, the pomp and circumstance, the chills, thrills and captivating performances as the big game itself.¬†Clearly, 2012 Prizm Football is that product.

Graced with an incredible amount of hype and packed with a seemingly endless array of “Oohs” and “Aaahs,” the technologically superior 2012 Prizm Football marks the grand evolution of the chromium-inspired football card. Upon release, it will become the brand that other such products on the market aspire to. One look at the gallery that follows and you’ll realize that’s not just hyperbole. It’s fact.

The etching is deeper, the colors more vibrant. The stunning Prizm parallels (everything from the base beauties to the brilliant Golds, Greens and Red Die-Cuts) are, in a word, spectacular. And just like its basketball counterpart that set the tone for the bold introduction of this brand, the cards don’t warp or bend.

Until now, all we’ve had to show you of 2012 Prizm Football are glimpses of uncut sheets. But you’re likely to find, as I did, that even those fantastic first looks can’t completely prepare you for the actual finished product. Last Friday at the Panini America printing facility, Joseph Mackey and Carlos Torrez conducted the Quality Control process for 2012 Prizm Football.

I was lucky enough to be there, grabbing this first wave of preview images to share with you. I couldn’t help but think I was documenting bona fide football-card history. We’ll have plenty more in the coming days, including additional images (including many of the set’s autographs), production-line video, a teaser gallery of the first few boxes and the must-see episode of Panini Unwrapped.

Until then, though, soak in these splendid first sights — and please let us know what you think.

It looks like the sort of treasure one would find in a Legend of Zelda game. Whoever came up with the printing technology deserves a piece of the Triforce.

Wow! The waves are coming! Tracy Those die cuts reds Looks amazing! Football collectors knows what Panini have done to basketball until now its still the hottest product out there. Seeing this its even going to be even make a bigger splash.
The colors are brighter and I see the addition of etchings are even deeper than any other companies who have handled chromium cards. Panini really showed its technological superiority! That is a sure win win situation for us collectors. I’m thinking Subaru Sti Vs Mitsubishi Evolution. The competition is good. So Far we could clearly state that Panini Got A Chromium Superiority.
    Great Job!
    Peace!

I kind of figured Prizm would be a new NHL product this season (12-13) But with the news that there is only 3 more NHL releases this season (LTD, Rookie Anthology & Prime), I’m hoping Prizm will make into one of these products as an insert. Seems like a perfect fit for Rookie Anthology.
How about a little help & info Mr. Barr or Mr Hackler ? please :)

and here I thought heaven didn’t exist on earth, apparently it’s located at the Panini America printing facility. Those are some down-right amazing looking cards. I have not been this excited for a set in a long time. No bend? I’m highly impressed and cannot wait to see these in person! Panini does it again!

I cannot wait for this to go live. The cards look amazing. I have never been this excited for a product release.

I really like the look of the Brilliance insert. I was expecting a Super Bowl themed card on those like Finalists in Basketball, but I think this is better since we can pull a larger number of players; and by that I mean Vikings that played within the last 25+ years :(. The football texturing is a nice touch as well.

I can’t wait to see the Decade of Dominance checklist. It looks like there will be some great players in there that don’t really have many cards produced anymore.

One thing that bothers me a little is that the team logos on the rookies is noticeably smaller than on the vet cards of the same version. Maybe it’s just how it looks in the pictures. The Rookie Impact set looks great all the way around though. I’m really liking the new RC logo as well.

    GREAT JOB PANINI!!!

I’d like to see a baseball prospect based version of these cards. Any thought being thrown around for something like that. If not, there should be. These cards look amazing. Great job Panini.
