Panini America Unwraps Playbook Football, Select Basketball in Watch & Win Videos

April 3, 2013

Unwrapped Double Feature

It’s rare for us here at Panini America to cram two videos into one post on The Knight’s Lance. But since this is no ordinary release week, this is no ordinary post. As the collecting world anxiously awaits tomorrow’s releases of 2012 Playbook Football and 2012-13 Select Basketball we present for your enjoyment below the world premiere episodes of Panini Unwrapped for both products.

But the fun doesn’t end there. After you’ve watched both videos, we’re going to give you an opportunity to win some of the best hits from yesterday’s teaser-gallery breaks of both products: The Robert Griffin III autographed booklet from Playbook and the Chandler Parsons Gold Prizm autograph from Select. And all you have to do is answer a few questions and do a little Tweeting. Stay tuned for contest details after the videos.

OK, now that you’ve watched the videos. Here’s what we want you to do:

  • First, follow us on Twitter if you don’t already.
  • Answer these two questions from the videos: How tall does Tracy Hackler claim Brock Osweiler is in the Playbook video? What two base Prizm parallels does Keith Hower pull from his seven-pack mini box in the Select video? (Leave your answers as a comment to this post.)
  • Finally, Tweet a link to this post using the hashtag #PaniniDoubleFeature.

After you’ve done all of that, sit tight. We’ll select some random winners in the next few days.

Got all that? Good luck.

Tracy I love the Playbook cards/books, they look and feel amazing, seriously very nice but really the list of top rc’s that are redemption cards is just plain sickening, soured me totally on buying more as soon as I saw that Russell Wilson, Trent Richardson, Nick Foles, Ryan Tannehill, Rueben Randle, Jarius Wright, Justin Blackmon, Mo Sanu etc are all going to be sit around and wait…..we deserve better for $200 a box, I’ll say it if nobody else will!

New acetate playbook cards are gorgeous…unfortunately I pulled a sick doug martin book that was stuck together. Popped open & the acetate was damaged/peeling up :-( Heard others w/ similar problems. Bummer. May send in for replacement or just super glue it, lol. Other than that, cards look sweet!

    • April 8, 2013 10:01 pm

Sorry to hear that, Mikey. Please get with @PaniniCSM (hobby@paniniamerica.net); not sure what he has in the way or replacements, but it can’t hurt to contact him.

ehh, it happens. Gotta look on the bright side. Solid player and otherwise beautiful card. Sometimes acetates can look cheesy, but Panini really did a bang up job here. Pics & vids dont do justice, ppl need to see em live! Thx for the links tho, I will reach out. Appreciate it my man

Does anyone agree that PLaybook is up to NT standards and very similar, but costs ALOT less. They both have patch booklets and legend autos, plus from the preview NT has around 2 sticker autos per $500 box. The acetate books are amazing looking and sorry to hear about the stuck booklet, but the only thing I don’t like about signatures on acetate is that they are often smudged or just don’t have a consistent autograph flow.

I cant say for sure until after I see NT live, but Id probably disagree only bc I feel that NT is in an elite class of its own. I think Playbook was good last year and great this year, but I dont think anything can quite compare to NT. 5Star is up there, but just misses the mark (and after seeing what they did w/ Valor this year those other guys may really be doomed!) I just hope Panini isnt simply taking advantage of a deep rookie class and this year’s hefty price increase is justified in the product itself. Fingers crossed!

the rc books are amazing but playbook doesn’t bring the heat with HOF and retired superstar auto’s like NT, not even close….
