NFL Hall of Famers, Retired Legends Ignite 2012 National Treasures Football (Gallery)

April 5, 2013

2012 National Treasures Football HOF Legends (4)

For 2012 National Treasures Football to truly be considered the most spectacular release in the brand’s proud, super-premium history (as we’ve said all along that it will be), Panini America Product Developers realized that they needed more than just collection-making Rookie Cards honoring the lights-out 2012 NFL Draft Class. They realized they needed to raise the bar.

Well, consider the bar raised — considerably; not just on National Treasures, but on any high-end football brand that follows the stunning 2012 edition, which will release to the hobby amid improbably high fanfare next Wednesday.

This much is certain: 2012 National Treasures Football includes more on-card autographs than ever before, with NFL Hall of Famers and retired legends constituting a lion’s share (and we’re not talking just Barry Sanders and Herman Moore) of that content. It also includes a breathtaking assortment of memorabilia worn in games by some of the greatest players in NFL history. There are a few other consequential bells and whistles — such as the unique Enshrinement Signatures pull-out autographs and Souvenir Cuts — that are sure to make 2012 National Treasures Football an instant classic.

And in the impressive, legend-focused gallery that follows, we document a little bit of everything (the on-card autographs, the memorabilia, the Enshrinement Signatures and the Souvenir Cuts) that might just make this the most spectacular gallery we’ve ever done — which is fitting for one of the most spectacular football products we’ve ever done.

Enjoy — and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional coverage of 2012 National Treasures Football as Wednesday’s release date draws closer.

Very impressive gallery, as expected. I like the design of the pull-out legends and the Red Grange cut. Wish there were a few more horseshoes on those helmets though! Thanks Tracy!

It might be the picture but I thought the patches would be bigger. Still they are some of the best patches in hobby. And more sticker autos than I thought too. The cut autos are great specially that Joe Perry bank check cut auto. And there is something just classic looking with a all black card with gold script and either a silver or gold auto on it. The all white background in good but black on gold just stands out as being high end especially with a glossy finish. Great looking cards just thought the high end products would have less sticker autos.

Awesome looking product for sure, but I have one question. First off, let me say I’m an Oakland Raiders fan and will be til the day I die, but why would you include Rocket Ismail in a set named Greatest Signatures? You have Elway, Sanders( Barry and Deion), Montana, Rice and Marino among other great players and I just don’t see how he fits in. If you were going to throw a Raiders receiver in there, it should have been Tim Brown or Cliff Branch. Not that what I think matters, just adding my 2 cents. Have a great day and again, awesome looking product. Can’t wait to join a break or two, if I can afford it.

The Red Grange cut makes me sad. It destroyed a nice photograph. The cut check sigs are cool though.

because you can’t/barely can see the auto behind the player when it’s in…this is probably the only part of this year’s set that i’m not foaming at the mouth to pull…

Awesome job Panini America. 2012 Contenders is the “Mid-Priced Football Product of the Year.” 2012 National Treasures Football gets my vote for “Overall Product of the Year.” No wonder all the card shop owners and internet retailers at The Las Vegas Summit were trying to increase their orders. Singles buyers have always loved this product. This looks to be the best ever.

Smoking hot product. Love the minimal design and foil stamping. The Greatest Signatures cards are the highlight of the set in my opinion. Love the idea of the Franchise Favs too… really hoping my boy Neal Anderson (Bears) has one of those. Always waiting to see him in a high-end product! Not too sure about the HOF pull-autos. Just too much… and the insert edges/borders look a little sloppy. :S

Those cards really pop. Thick and high gloss I assume from the pics. Beautiful!
