Retail-Only Memorabilia Cards Bring Pop to 2012-13 Past & Present Basketball

May 2, 2013

2012-13 Past & Present Basketball Mem (17)

Without a doubt, one of the most-asked questions regarding Panini America’s 2012-13 Past & Present Basketball in the 24 or so hours since the product released has been: Where are the memorabilia cards? The answer, quite simply, is: They’re in retail. Exclusively.

In an effort to add an additional element of chase and excitement to Past & Present’s retail counterpart, company officials have made the product’s popular Dual Jersey, Dual Jersey Prime, Gamers and Gamers Prime memorabilia cards available only in retail packs this year. We’ve provided a brief gallery of just some of the retail possibilities below.

The checklist for Gamers and Gamers Prime is 30-players deep; the checklist for Dual Jersey and Dual Jersey Prime is 25-cards deep. Each retail box of 2012-13 Past & Present Basketball should deliver one autograph or one memorabilia card.

The only downfall to this is the rampant pack searching that occurs in retail :(. Pack searchers will corner the market on these available memorabilia cards. I rarely even buy retail for my kids anymore because the chances of a GU or auto rarely exists as they have mostly been searched and purchased. The product does look really nice and I can’t wait to get my hands on some hobby boxes though!

I like the fact that you are doing something to make retail more desirable. I do not like the fact that you are supporting the scum that search packs to pull memorabilia cards at retail.

    Wow!!!! Really!
It gives more excitement to pack searches.
Then Again Not adding it to the Hobby Box is not a good thing especially those sweet looking patches will just be search thru by pack Searches. Time to make friends with target or wallmart Staff.
Its not a wise decision especially its so easy to know which ones have the hit.
Unbelievable. I see the Prizm Green points because that is harder to search unless they pick a little into it
Hmmm! Im Not sure about this Sir Tracy!

I just hope they sell this in boxes not packs
I seldom have a chance to go to target ( I have to cross border)
so whenever I got a chance, all packs have been raped. You even see some packs, cut with blades on top (how stupid of me because I didn’t check) I brought home 3 searched packs..hehe

I agree with the rest, that this just means pack searches will be getting them all. The only thing I can hope is that they do the packs only in blasters and that the 1 per box odds is actually 1 per blaster box. If that’s the case then I will be grabbing a few blasters when I see them.

If you’re doing this I hope they are blister packed for the above reasons(pack searching).

Great for some but pack searchers are a problem

It would be great if it was one per blaster

Don’t even see many of these at retail outlets as they somehow don’t even make it to shelves. Only things on shelves are junk!
