Panini America Peeks the ‘Salute to Service’ Insert in 2013 Father’s Day Set (Gallery)

May 27, 2013

Tannehill Salute

With Father’s Day 2013 about three weeks away, it seemed only fitting that we unveil that set’s Military Tribute insert here on Memorial Day. The NFL last season began a remarkable “Salute to Service” tribute to honor those heroes that have served our country. Panini America officials acquired several footballs used during those tribute games to create a unique insert in the 2013 Father’s Day set.

The set includes a powerful, patriotic design, player photography from the games those balls were used and images of the footballs intact on the backs of the cards. Actual pieces of the game-used footballs will be embedded into the front of the card. The cards are previewed — without pieces of the ball included — in the brief gallery below.

Many collectors will recall that in last year’s Father’s Day promotion set, Panini America introduced a similar design and game-used footballs to honor the NFL’s 9-11 tribute games the season before. Say tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional Father’s Day updates in the coming days. Until then, we’d like to thank those that have so heroically served and are currently serving our country.

FREEDOM IS NOT FREE! I come from a Military Family with generations of service on both sides of my Family. Please honor Veteran’s day and Memorial day as well as the 4th of July! I know Freedom is not free both of my Grandpa’s served in World War II Army/Air Force before the services seperated and the Marines. I have an Uncle who retired from the Marines after 20 plus years of service and multiple combat deployments going back to the Gulf War. I served in the Army my m.o.s. was logistic’s 92 Alpha supporting victory. I want to shout out a LOUD HOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAHHHHHH to my Brother’s & Sister’s in uniform! If you see a Soldier in B.D.U’s extend your hand out in gratitude and say Mahalo for your service! FREEDOM IS NOT FREE
