A Panini America 2013 Father’s Day Update: Basketball Content, “Lava Flow” Inserts

June 5, 2013

Panini America 2013 Father's Day Basketball Extra (1)

As we count down the final days until next week’s epic Panini America 2013 Father’s Day promotion being conducted at local hobby shop across the country, we’ve purposely waited to preview the special set’s strong NBA content until this very moment. With the 2013 NBA Finals tipping off tomorrow night in Miami, we figured now was the perfect time.

In the gallery below, we’ve provided a healthy, hoops-heavy helping of the basketball base cards, Rookie Cards and base inserts that comprise Panini America’s multisport 2013 Father’s Day release. In addition, though, you’ll also get an exciting first look at the rare “Lava Flow” parallels that will be limited to 25 or less.

Here’s hoping this gallery provides the perfect partner to our posts previewing the baseball and football components of the 2013 Father’s Day set. We’ll showcase the scorching-hot NHL cards in the set in the coming days, so stay tuned.

So which is it? 25 or less? It doesn’t like like they’re serially numbered. Nice looking cards though.

How do you get these packs/cards? What do you have to do to get them? Is it up to the hobby store as to how they distribute them or is there an official Panini policy? Is there a way to insure all packs are given out and not just kept and later sold by the greedy dealers?

    • June 6, 2013 7:41 am

They will be distributed via wrapper-redemption programs at participating hobby shops throughout the country. Each store owner will distribute them a little differently based on their inventory.

Those are awesome but I am still waiting to see where to go and get me some at!

Working with sales on getting a comprehensive list of participating dealers posted in the next few days.

Those Lava Flow parallels look fantastic, thanks for the preview Tracy!

  14. June 6, 2013 7:10 am

Hey there Sir Tracy! Hi Guys! I love the look and designs on these! And a BIG PLUS for me is that now there is a Basketball Card that shows ROOKIE on it so I know who is a rookie! Sometimes it’s hard for ME to tell who is and who isn’t so this is a BIG PLUS on a Basketball card! On the other hand, my ONLY LCS that was at the Mall is now gone :( Now the closet one is 50 miles away! And being disabled, THAT isn’t going to work for me so I’m really out of luck now…. but just wanted to let you know I LOVE the design on this Year Fathers Day Promo! NICE JOB Panini!

Are lava flows parallels exclusive to basketball? Will Studio baseball cards have lava flows as well?

    • June 6, 2013 9:09 am

No, sir. Lava Flow is a full parallel that covers all the cards from the base and base-insert sets.

      • June 6, 2013 9:46 am

        Aʻā, now I understand.

        Thanks, thats awesome news.

SO any news on what each one will be limited to? Will any of the inserts/parallels/used cards be numbered or have announced PR on them?

      • June 6, 2013 3:15 pm

Most of them will have announced print runs. We’ll publish the checklist once we have everything confirmed.
