Panini America Making New Damian Lillard Rookie Cards Using Top 2012-13 Designs

October 31, 2013

Panini America 2012-13 Preferred Silhouettes Damian Lillard

Hardcore hoops collectors who thought they missed out on collecting Damian Lillard¬†autograph memorabilia Rookie Cards from Panini America’s hottest 2012-13 brands may want to take a seat before they read what’s next: As it turns out, the 2013 NBA Rookie of the Year will, in fact, be featured on coveted RPAs using last season’s National Treasures, Preferred Silhouettes, Gold Standard and Select designs.

As part of a special wrapper-redemption program announced today, Panini America is creating 400 new Lillard RCs using the aforementioned 2012-13 brand designs. The cards will be available while supplies last to collectors who earn enough points through redeeming wrappers, box UPC codes and store receipts from the purchase of selected 2012-13 NBA products.

Lillard will be featured on new autograph memorabilia Rookie Cards in National Treasures (99 RCs, 10 SPs and a 1/1), Preferred Silhouettes (99 RCs, 25 SPs), Gold Standard (99 RCs, 10 SPs) and Select (49 RCs, 10 SPs). While supplies last, collectors will receive one blind-wrapped Lillard RC for every 300 points they earn from sending in wrappers, box UPC codes and store receipts to Panini America verifying their purchases of:

Eligible Products Points Per Box
2012-13 Momentum Basketball 30
2012-13 Panini Signatures Basketball 15
2012-13 Elite Series Basketball 35
2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball 25
2012-13 Panini Intrigue Basketball 20
2012-13 Innovation Basketball 15

The program is open while supplies last and there is a maximum of 10 cards redeemed per person. You can get a sneak peek at the cards in the gallery below. Interested collectors should submit their wrappers, box UPC codes and store receipts to:

Interesting promotion. Does the package need UPC, wrappers, AND receipt? Can we send in an internet receipt soon and wrappers later to hold a spot? Dealers with cards on hand and closer to distributors have an edge, if this turns out to be a race anyway.

    • October 31, 2013 10:53 pm

Somehow I doubt there are hundreds of collectors ready to drop $1,000+ in product even if it is for a limited Lillard RPA.

  4. October 31, 2013 6:57 pm

Wow! Amazing! Shazam! What a great promotion!

I hope hobby shop owners aren’t eligible for this. Good thing I was already planning to buy five or six boxes of Intrigue and Elite Series as an early Christmas present for myself.

will these cards be serial #’d?

  8. October 31, 2013 8:41 pm

Hey Tracy, why doesn’t Panini honor the National Treasures UPC’s? Opened 5 cases at the National, and a couple in front of you. After spending this much cash, it only makes sense to honor this product since some of the cards are National Treasures RPA’s,

    • November 1, 2013 11:07 pm

I think I can answer for Tracy. This promotion is designed to help move slow moving products. Hence, Momentum. Elite Series, Gold Standard, Innovation and etc.

National Treasures, Preferred, Select, Prizm and etc move fine on their own… therefore they won’t be doing a promotion for those.

They are trying to help out distributors, hobby stores & breakers that have purchased a lot of slow moving NBA product this year. I think it is an awesome idea and they picked the right products for the promotion. What a great way to pick up some Panini NBA boxes, that are typically at a great price, and still have a chance at hitting a nice Lillard autograph in the process!

So for one, I thank Panini and the crew for this promotion!

What a joke, leave the best hits out of NT and release 2 better products straight after it

  10. October 31, 2013 10:02 pm

Well should have enough for three redemptions with that list, however if you can somehow include preferred which were 180.00 a box and select witch were 150.00 a box out of the gate, i bought like 6 cases on each product, that would be so nice of you.

  11. October 31, 2013 10:42 pm

We will research international participation; we will provide an answer tomorrow as far as internet retailer receipts, they would apply provided their approved Panini internet retailers or Panini brick & mortar stores that also have an internet store

Tracy are these being fulfilled and sent out as of today?

  13. November 1, 2013 5:48 am

Seems like some logistical problems need to be worked out but certainly a well-intentioned effort by Panini to get these cards produced and into interested collector’s hands. Thanks Tracy!

This promotion feels wrong. So is this going to be the new normal if you miss someone in earlier sets? People that bought Lillard cards before paid they price they did based on the limited supply. This floods that market. Also weird that NT is not available for this redemption, is this just to push the less successful products?

For the redemption to be fulfilled, customer will need to submit: wrappers, box UPC code (Gold Standard does not have a UPC code, so please send in the outer box sleeve) and a receipt.

One more note for clarification: receipts must indicate the purchases were made starting yesterday, October 31st. Any receipts where product was purchased before this date will not be accepted

We chose the products based on inventory levels of all channels of distribution:brick & mortar stores, distributors and manufacturer. We did not include products like NT and Select as they were sold out.

In order to receive the Lillard autograph, there are only 3 items to submit:
    1) UPC Code from box (not full box, for Gold Standard you must send the outer sleeve as it contains a unique NBA holograph sticker)
    2) Wrappers from the boxes
    3) Store Receipt

Wrapper from pack (the foil thing) or the box (the plastic shrink-wrap thing.) You are getting both now. :-)

Slight delay (due to unexpected ice storm in Dallas), Damian Lillard cards will be delivered to our offices on 12/20. We thank you for your patience! We ship out as soon as we received the cards

The Lillard cards are in! I saw them with my own eyes — and tooks of pics — today. Will get other answers ASAP and include them in a full-blown gallery showcasing the Lillard greatness.

Not likely – there was a storm, so it slowed this process from being a 1 week process to a 2 month process. Dang storms!

Cards are being inserted into one touch holders and will be blind wrapped. We will be overnighting the cards starting tomorrow – just in time for the new year! The cards looks incredible!!!!!

I’m thinking about ordering enough of the product to get 300 points. I would probably get it around by next Wednesday, the 29th. What are the chances there would be still cards available around the beginning of February?? Obviously, it’s a lot of $$ to risk on potentially getting nothing-but I really want one of them!!

    • January 22, 2014 9:49 pm

Tracy, I pulled the Select version in your post from a rack pack that was non auto and non patch. Do you have any information on this card? Also, mine is a refractor of some sort.

  49. March 27, 2014 5:14 pm

I know it’s pretty late in the game for this, but would there happen to be any autographs left in Panini’s hand still eligible for the exchange? Love the 2012-13 Panini products and thinking of buying some more…
Also, if there is more-are most Internet retailers (besides Ebay) considered Panini-certified dealers (such as blowoutcards.com)? I live 5 hours away from any major city, so my store-buying ability of cards is very limited.

    • March 27, 2014 8:23 pm

Hey, Michael. I just confirmed with Tim Franz, our Director of Sales, that we are out of the Lillard cards for this promotion. We do appreciate the inquiry, though.
