The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2013 Crown Royale Football Retail (54 Pics)

February 13, 2014

Panini America 2013 Crown Royale Football Retail QC (1)

While the Panini America NFL Product Development team is steadily putting the finishing touches on the hobby version of 2013 Crown Royale Football, packout for the retail version ended earlier this week as the product began making its way to mass retail outlets. The retail edition of 2013 Crown Royale Football is a compelling offering for retail-focused Crown fans that delivers four packs and at least two autograph or memorabilia cards per box.

Although it features the same base-card design as its hobby counterpart, the retail version is equipped with a robust array of exclusive numbered parallel colors (including Bronze Holofoil, Purple Holofoil Red and Purple) and exclusive versions of the set’s most popular inserts (headlined by the needs-no-introduction Rookie Silhouettes, Red Foil Heirs to the Throne memorabilia cards) and autograph cards.

The following gallery details some of the regal pulls that surfaced during the recent Quality Control process for 2013 Crown Royale Football Retail. Enjoy the gallery and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage, including tomorrow’s three-box retail Teaser Gallery and next week’s examination of 2013 Crown Royale Football’s hobby version.

I have always loved the crown royal look. It’s awesome every year it comes out. This is one of the top collecting products in my book. I like the silhouettes they are sweet.

Will this be sold as a sealed blaster box? And what is the MSRP?

Look, I love Crown, it looks phenomenal every year, but I’m getting really sick and tired of all these retail exclusive parallels and SP’s. I don’t pay $65-200+ for hobby boxes to miss out on stuff that’s going to sell well and looks amazing. For example, how many hobby boxes of Contenders could I have bought before I realized Mingo was only in retail? Or Sturgis? …etc. It just doesn’t make sense. If it’s in retail, it should be in hobby.

I love to collect and I love opening packs. That being said, I haven’t budgeted $65-200 for hobby boxes. Also, most packs in retail and hobby stores are already picked through. In general, most retail blasters have no value. You spend $20 and get no cards worth over $5. I love what Panini is doing here; reasonably priced boxes with guaranteed hits and potential for some nice extras. There is a market for collectors like me, and I appreciate them reaching out to us. I am very curious as to what these boxes will cost.

Are there gonna be any decent hits in this stuff? I have never had a hit worth anything in retail packs or blasters. All the card companies need to step up the hits in their retail product. Why spend $100 on blasters when I could get a hobby box with GOOD hits of GOOD players. I only buy blasters if I need cards for my sets. Retail is just a waste of money otherwise.
