Panini America Creates Something Special for Hockey Collectors at the National

July 25, 2011

OK, hockey collectors: Ask and you shall receive. Over the past two weeks, the Knight’s Lance has given collectors an exclusive look at card images for the upcoming National as they become available. But there has been one question asked on several occasions.

Where’s the hockey?

Well, the wait is over. Hockey collectors feast your eye’s on these beauties. Autographed patch cards from some of the top NHL prospects from the 2010-11 season can be found ONLY in the National silver packs. Names like Taylor Hall, Tyler Seguin, Eberle and Paajarvi should excite ANY collector.

Here’s a few of the highlights from the National in case you missed ‘em.

Man, this just keeps on getting better and better. Tell me, can the Panini booth support 75,000 people? Because I doubt we’ll want to go anywhere else. Another reason why Panini is the best in the business – making sure the COLLECTORS are taken care of.

Are you going to be redeeming Kobe redemptions at the national like you did last year? Also, I opened (2) sealed cases of 2010/11 Gold standard BK & didn’t received all my case hits from one of the cases. Can I bring the receipt and boxes & case with me to the National instead of having to send it in???
Would also like to know why some cases have 3 Kobe auto’s with some boxes having 2 Kobe auto’s & 3 dual auto’s per case….Is that why one of my cases didn’t have squat?? Would love to chat with one of you about this….

Sorry if this question has been answered before, but how does one get a “silver pack?” Are these the packs that are given out via the wrapper redemption program, or a separate program/promotion?

    • July 25, 2011 5:35 pm

Hey, Sal. The silver packs will be available via wrapper redemption at our booth during the National.

Scott this national can’t come fast enough. I can’t say enough great things about the people who make this event what it is. I hope all collectors don’t take this for granted and realize a lot of time and effort went to making this the truly amazing for us collectors. The other manufactures can learn a thing or two..

Not sure on redeeming Kobe autos at the National, but we will let everyone know if we do. As for as your missing hits, we’re not going to be able to handle that at the National but I can assure you that our customer service department will be able to assist you.

It’d be nice if you saved some of those patch autos for the redemptions some of us are still waiting for. Namely my Jordan Eberle Limited Phenoms Silver Spotlight /50. Been around 6 months now.

While I applaud Panini for putting together a program like this for the National I can’t help notice it’s yet another rookie-themed offering. Not everybody collects them, many people would rather collect established stars who have accomplished things rather than the flavor-of-the-month batch of rookies, most of which will be forgotten when the next batch arrives in the fall.

The rookie over-saturation isn’t limited to this program, it’s across Panini products in general. Most of Panini’s best hockey designs this year (Silhouettes, Luxury Suite patch-autos, upcoming Dominion jumbo patch-autos) have all been rookie sets, leaving the rest of us non-rookie collectors wanting. I’ve been waiting for some hard-signed patch sets to rival Upper Deck’s The Cup inserts but so far only rookies have gotten that treatment.

I’m likely in the minority and I’m sure my plea won’t get very far but it was worth a try. Who wouldn’t want to pull a Silhouette of a guy like Crosby?
