Video/Gallery: Panini America Recaps Black Box Madness at the 2012 Industry Summit

March 20, 2012

LAS VEGAS — On a day when news of Peyton Manning going to the Denver Broncos spread like wildfire on the 2012 Industry Summit show floor, not even that enormous buzz could match the excitement that filled the room in anticipation of Panini America officials distributing their trademark Black Boxes.

So following the company’s revealing, headline-making address to a room full of rapt attendees, Black Box madness ensued. The following video and gallery document the furor.

(For collectors at home, stay tuned tonight to the inaugural 2012 Industry Summit Ultimate Case Break for a chance to win a Black Box of your own.)

First, the video . . .

And now, the gallery . . .

Did that solid gold card that lady is holding come from a Black Box?

    • March 20, 2012 4:52 pm

Yes, sir. It was inserted as a Black Box redemption and redeemed like on site.

Can Regular non sports card store owners attend these events or no?

    • March 20, 2012 4:50 pm

I believe this event is open to retailers, but obviously the National is THE show for collectors.

Did I hear an anguished cry come from the guy who pulled the Colt McCoy? Nah’, was a 1/1!
Some mighty sweet cards in them thar’ boxes. The excitement they’ve generated is reminiscent of Panini’s Black Friday! Outstanding! Two National Trading Card holidays. I’ll observe! 🙂

    Tracy,
The summit looks awesome, however when are we going to see more hockey previews, we are needing some new stuff. What hockey product is out next? Please say contenders.

I believe Contenders is next followed by Elite. I’ll try to get some previews to you all later next week.

Nice of you guys to do the freebies and free breaks (CnC), it is appreciated and very awesome. A bit chaotic in Blog TV tonight, though all the background noise probably added to it. But you held up pretty good anyway Tracy. Might think about having some help in chat with some Mods, kick out the folks that don’t want to keep it “family friendly”. Maybe another way to do your draws for prizes as doubt you want to do that again manually ;). Maybe like divide number of people in room by prizes, in example 10 prizes would be 15 for 150 people. Then random 1-15 and go down list in room (so say 7 was the random, then every 7th person of each group of 15 would win). Just an idea, but maybe a better way to do it, the twitter one the time before wasn’t good for those of us that don’t do twitter.

    • March 21, 2012 12:57 am

Really appreciate the feedback, Dwight. We’ll definitely switch it up going forward to make it better and more engaging for everyone. I like your idea of how to randomly break it up. Thanks to you and everyone who stayed with us tonight. You guys are awesome.

Tracy, do you not sleep man? My daughter is up with Strep, are you just a slave to your trade? Inquiring minds want to know! 8)~

Great to see Panini at the forefront of giving back to the Retailers and suppliers who have persevered through economic upturns and downturns as well as points of low interest in the hobby. All to share their love with hobbyists worldwide. Also great to see the Zeal and genuine love that all the Panini guys show towards the hobby and hobbyists!

Wish I could of made the case break on BlogTV, was pulled away for a few hours when I thought I had nothing planned since it was my day off. But still, some great stuff in those Black Boxes, it looks like fun times were had by all.

That’s me with the Dirk Nowitzski 1/1 and we’ll be giving it away on a future episode of Cardboard Connection Radio. A big thanks to Panini for the putting together an amazing program. They brought their A game to the Summit. They are all class acts.

  20. March 22, 2012 3:58 pm

Wow! The Summit was great. Panini had a lot to making this Summit the best ever. The highlight of The Summit for me was talking to Mr. Warsop one-on-one for a few minutes. After discussing different aspects of our business with Mr. Warsop, it is clear to me that Panini understands what the consumer wants and is ready to deliver a product that exceeds expectations. 2012 is going to be Awesome!

Thank you, Charlie. It’s always a pleasure interacting with you. Look forward to doing something with you and your store soon.
