The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball (111 Pics)

June 28, 2013

Panini America 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball QC Part One (36)

There’s an old saying that goes a little something like “all that glitters is not gold.” It’s not true — at least not as it relates to the gallery you’re about to lay eyes on. Everything you see glittering below absolutely is gold, or at least emanates from the decadent 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball, which arrives in hobby shops everywhere next week.

And we’re not talking fool’s gold here. We’re talking full-on, unadulterated drool’s gold; the kind of cards that will leave you dabbing your chin with one hand and clicking your computer mouse for the next image with the other. Indeed, the third installment of Panini America’s Gold Standard Basketball brand looks to be a tour de force kind of development that includes one-per-box Metal cards and a resplendent selection of autographs, memorabilia cards, striking aesthetics and, yes, even authentic pieces of gold.

The following gallery details just some of the hits that surfaced during the 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball Quality Control process earlier this week, 111 images worth of “wow” that should sufficiently whet your appetite until your able to get your hands on the product beginning next Wednesday. Enjoy the sneak peek and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional coverage of the product next week.

Black Golds look great again and the gold metal cards are something I’m going to be chasing after at Wax Czar in Woodland Hills, CA.

Auto relics look incredible.Base parallels look really cool too. My only knock is the horizontal cards where the autos are sideways. Other than that this product looks like it’s shaping to be something stellar. Can’t wait to see what else is in store for this product.

I think I might be buying my first super high end product. This is a pretty big deal for me!

Thanks Tracy! The draft pick redemptions were my favorite cards from last years Gold Standard. Glad they decided to bring the metal cards back this year!

We collectors in Asia still demanding Jeremy Lin auto cards! Jeremy Lin’s Black 1/1 Crusade Prizm sold for $400 on eBay. That’s demand! But no JLin auto at all in 2012-13 so far!

I’m liking the metal cards. This is the next box that I hope to get one day. Will there be any USA basketball cards? Those would be pretty cool inserts.

Very nice looking cards, just way out of the price range for the family collector.

For the cards with real gold, are they gold leaf or do they have some weight to them like a coin?

Why no letters or numbers in the jersey patches? Pretty boring if you ask me. A piece of colored cloth..same ole same ole.
