Panini America Offers Detailed First Look at Colorful, Revamped 2014 Prizm Football

August 22, 2014

Panini America 2014 Prizm Football Bridgewater Tie-Dye Prizm

Circle “September 24” on your calendar. It promises to be a history-maker. It’s the day Panini America’s 2014 Prizm Football arrives in hobby shops across North America and ushers in a bold, new parallel universe in the process. Make no mistake about it: 2014 Prizm Football is decidedly more colorful than any Prizm product has ever been — and that’s a good thing.

2014 Prizm Football promises to raise the creative bar in terms of what’s possible using Optichrome technology with the likes of Pink Ribbon BCA Prizms (hobby-jumbo exclusive), NFL Prizms, Team Logo Prizms, Panini Prizms, and my personal favorite Tie-Dye Prizms. The product also packs bold new color schemes, fun-funky new die-cuts and designs tailored specifically to accentuate the ever-enchanting Prizm technology.

In all, the hobby edition of 2014 Prizm Football will offer 11 unique Prizm parallel chases (including the hobby-only Green and Neon Green-Yellow Prizms). Every hobby box (four cards per pack, 20 packs per box) will deliver one to two autographs, a robust 11 Prizm parallels (two base Prizms, one Panini Prizm, one Orange Prizm, one Neon Green-Yellow Prizm, one Rookie Prizm and five additional Prizms), 2o Rookie Cards and one Rookie Card Photo Variation SP; each hobby box also will yield one Fresh Faces, one Introductions, one Believe the Hype, one Hands Team and one Air Marshals. In addition to the aforementioned Rookie Card Photo Variation SPs, there are also Rookie Card Photo Variation SSPs.

The 2014 Prizm Football retail configuration features three retail-only Prizms (Red, Blue and Green) and the average box (four cards per pack, 24 packs per box) will deliver one autograph, 14 Prizm parallels, 24 Rookie Cards, one Rookie Card Photo Variation SP, two Fresh Faces, one Introduction, one Believe the Hype, one Hands Team and one Air Marshals.

We’ll have plenty more on 2014 Prizm Football right here on The Knight’s Lance in the coming days, including information on the hobby-exclusive Jumbo version of the product. But until then, enjoy this extended first look at a product with a future as bright as its calling-card Prizm parallels.

Shouldn’t the hobby box come with more cards than the retail?

So many parallels, so little time. Prizm is a must have every season! Thanks Tracy!

Whoa. Serious boom or bust potential here. Should be interesting how this is received.

Are there 2 different colors of blue Prizm, or does it just look very different between 2 pictures due to lighting?

There’s a retail blue (royal blue) and then there’s a light-blue Blue Wave that’s exclusive to hobby jumbos.

For one of a very few times, I am disappointed by what I see in a product tease.
I am all for parallels, but parallels should be scarce and issues to be chased as opposed to ubiquitous. IMO, a product with 13 different colored incarnations of each rookie issue is … well, too much of a good thing. It seems to me that Panini isn’t increasing the demand for purchase of say, the “Royal Blue” rookie cards… or the orange parallels. Rather, the secondary market is going to be inundated by a veritable rainbow o’ rooks’.
With few exceptions, I would anticipate value to actually diminish given the saturation of Prizm RCs.

Different twist on the rookie cards. Seems kinda cool. I bet they look much more impressive in person.

How about giving away some uncut sheets via pack pulled redemption cards?

We’ve got to have a detailed update on the variations!! Seems there are a bunch. Are we going to see which are the SPs? which are the SSP? relative scarcity? Thanks
