The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2016 Diamond Kings Baseball (147 Pics)
Ask most baseball collectors what their favorite product of 2015 was and many of them will adamantly reply with two simple words that carry considerable collecting clout: Diamond Kings. Indeed, last year’s 2015 Diamond Kings release took many hobbyists by pleasant surprise and signaled a dramatic resurgence for the long-adored art-inspired brand.
Much like last year’s release, the first standalone Diamond Kings brand in 10 years, 2016 Diamond Kings Baseball delivers a stirring artistic tribute to the game’s greatest legends, biggest current stars and hottest rookies with a product that’s as rich in autograph and memorabilia content as it is in design and aesthetics. In the Quality Control Gallery that follows, we offer a thorough examination of this year’s highly anticipated release, due out next Wednesday.
Back to fuel collectors for a new season are photo variations and the popular Mini and Framed Mini chases. The product features five new autograph and memorabilia inserts, including Elements of Royalty Signatures and Limited Lithos Signatures Materials. Each hobby box of 2016 Diamond Kings (eight cards per pack, 12 packs per box) will deliver two autograph or memorabilia cards.
Enjoy the massive preview that follows and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of 2016 Diamond Kings Baseball.
For the 2nd year in a row, no Carlton Fisk, and he has yet to be included in Donruss either.
Actually, Carlton Fisk IS in 2016 Diamond Kings. He has a Boston memorabilia card in the Masters of the Game insert.
Tracy, are there cut autographs in this year product? The cuts from last years DK was some of the best looking cut autographs of all time.
Ron, you’ll be happy to know that THERE ARE cuts in this year’s release!
Last year was great, but you guys have outdone yourselves. This this’s DK is truly impressive! Awesome job, can’t wait to open a bunch of this. I don’t suppose there’s a checklist yet, is there?
I witnessed collectors young and old alike partaking in DK last year, it’s an age-defying hit. Definitely a great program, thanks for the extended preview Tracy!
Tracy, I heard that the Diamond Kings set would also be in “retail” this year…Is that true?
Yes, there will be regular retail and blaster boxes.
I’ve seen several different release dates ranging from March 30th to July 23rd. Is there a set date? Last years set was great and I can’t wait to collect this years.
It’s live today!
