Teaser Gallery: Panini America Cracks Two Boxes of 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball

July 2, 2013

Panini America 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball Teaser (2)

The collecting world gets an opportunity to strike gold tomorrow when Panini America’s 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball releases in hobby outlets across the country. The absolutely stacked 2012-13 edition promises to raise the bar in the product’s third year, delivering at least four autographs, one memorabilia card and one Metal card in every 12-card pack.

We’ve been teasing the product here on The Knight’s Lance for the last month, but we finally got some glorious hands-on time with it earlier today by busting two early boxes. The results, as you’ll see in the gallery below, speak for themselves.

There’s no denying that we’ll have to give some of the cards we pulled from these two randomly selected boxes away to lucky collectors. We’ll figure out how to do that in the coming days. But for now, enjoy the gallery that takes you card by tantalizing card through two 12-card packs.

Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional coverage of 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball in the coming days.

But come on! The reason I have my summer job is to save money for both school and spending money during the school year! I guess I’m gonna have to make a small sacrifice because this stuff looks GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLDEN. That Kyrie is crazy! These cards look gorgeous. Hope to see some Brooklyn Nets in these like my favorite, Brook Lopez! Can’t wait til this streets tomorrow. Keep up the phenomenal work!

Amazing set again this year! I don’t even collect basketball but opened soe of last year’s stuff. I KILLED IT! Irving RC auto and a ton more! I am gunna have to get me more of this for the new season. Box 1 was WAY better IMO because of the Irving but they all look cool. I really love the metal cards. It reminds me of the old Fleer Metal back in the day when the RC cards were on purple metal on the front and some of the old Fleer inserts for baseball that were metal. I personally loved those cards. When ya hit a great one you didn’t have to worry too much about condition and that was a great thing. Especially back in the day when card companies were a pain to get replacements

That first box is the Raptors/Knicks trade box with the Bargnani and the Novak and Camby. I would love to win the AK-47 Black Gold (such a sweet card of one of my favorite players and PC’s) and the Jose Calderon is stunning also. I will look forward to the contest and hope to win!

Thanks Tracy. No suppose a certain collector was to share the pictures of this ‘Impressive accomplishment’, would that possibly justify a donation of the Kyrie to the next Gold Standard set chase?? haha
