The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2011-12 Limited Basketball (44 Pics)

June 27, 2012

In honor of tomorrow night’s 2012 NBA Draft (and in honor of the the unmistakably exciting fact that the product releases one week from today), we thought the time was right to bring you just some of scintillating sights from the 2011-12 Limited Basketball QC process that took place earlier this week.

Panini America NBA Brand Manager Keith Hower was nice enough to share some early glimpses of the goods from a truly dynamic product that is equipped with vibrant, team-color-coordinated base cards, nice black-and-white effects on the retired stars, deft design touches, and healthy doses of memorabilia and autographs from a generation-spanning checklist.

I could probably go on and on, but my words are not what you want. What you want is these pictures . . .

Looks pretty good guys, probably the best product this year so far (not saying much though.) Have high hopes for this one! Looks like Panini actually spent time with the designs and diversifying the checklists and sets. Nice!

Nice look. Are these still releasing on July 6th? Also, any word on Gold Standard release date? Looking for updates…

Hey Tracy, do you have a checklist for this product? I have not been able to find a complete version. Let me know when you get a free minute. Have a great night!!

I can appreciate the difficulty in pushing out a new release of any “sports card” product but you guys are supposed to be used to those difficulties. I can also appreciate the issues of starting “behind the 8-ball” as far as this past season (with the lock-out) is concerned. However, you guys at Panini have let a lot of NBA collectors down this year. Your first products had no rookies and limited appeal. Now you seem to keep pushing 11-12 products further and further out… even after the season & Finals are over. At this rate they’ll be pushed right past 12-13 Hoops…unless of course, that’s pushed out as well. On top of that, why release 3 products within roughly a month of each other?

I hope next year’s releases run smoother.

    Signed,
A Frustrated NBA Fan & Collector

I completely disagree with the above statement. It was a shortened NBA season with games squeezed in. Most players who received cards for autographs, didn’t have time during the season to get stuff signed. This is a frustrating business, your only looking at it one sided. In order to completely understand the situation you have to be in their shoes. I appreciate your thoughts and concern but there is a business side to this.. From the Athletes to Panini to us… I give Panini credit for making due with what they can on a lock out season. Keep up the good work.

The cards look nice though at the how much these go for, I’ll only be grabbing some off the secondary market. Though I like collecting any Pistons card, kind of bleh seeing CV31 on there. For curiosity’s sake, how does CV31 fit into an insert called Masterful Marks? Is that relating to their signature, because his signature is far from masterful. Also, any reason for not including the word Prime on the patch cards? Nothing important, just curious. Good looking cards though. Thanks.

Limited looks solid this year..nice designs.
I just DL the checklist and noticed that Shaq doesn’t have any auto’s. I saw the sale sheet and it said look for autographs of the BigDaddy and Russell them. Is it like a uber secret auto you don’t want people to know about?

I actually really like the team color tints on those base cards. Adds some nice color and depth to the cards.
