Panini America Celebrates Game’s Signature Voices in 2014-15 Threads Basketball

March 10, 2015

Voices of the Game Main

For any number of compelling reasons both audible and inaudible, basketball’s most resounding voices have fashioned fan followings every bit as passionate and plentiful as the players whose games they analyze, announce, critique and broadcast.

The acerbic wit of Ernie Johnson. The ear-thrashing volume of Craig Sager’s jackets. The hyper-hyped excitement of Dick Vitale. The been-there-done-that expertise — and occasional cutting commentary — of Shaquille O’Neal, Chris WebberKenny Smith, Grant Hill, Michael Cage, Ron Boone, Brent Barry, Bob Knight or Steve Smith. Clearly, undeniable collectible qualities abound.

And when Panini America’s 2014-15 Threads Basketball arrives exclusively in Target stores next week, the company will pay tribute to the celebrity status of the game’s most distinguishable mic men with the unique Voices of the Game insert, a 20-card autograph set featuring signatures from the men behind basketball’s signature voices. Here’s to giving collectors something to talk about.

In addition to the aforementioned luminaries, the Voices of the Game checklist also includes Rick Kamla, Clark Kellogg, Walt Frazier, Phil Chenier, Mychal Thompson, Jon McGlocklin, Doug Collins and Sidney Moncrief. For Johnson and Sager, Voices of the Game represents their first autographed trading cards. In the case of Kamla, this will be his first trading card of any kind.

In the must-see gallery that follows, we provide an inviting exploration of all 20 cards in the Voices of the Game set, each one a conversation piece in its own right. Enjoy, and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of 2014-15 Threads Basketball.

Nice work, how awesome would it be, if you add them to your Hoops product line.

This must’ve been great for the announcers who weren’t players especially, finally getting the hobby love. Thanks Tracy!

I think Reggie, like Barkley have assigned exclusivity somewhere other than Panini. Like MJ
you NEVER see them on a Panini product. Think about it.
