UPDATED: Panini America’s Grand Plans for Next Month’s 2011 Toronto Fall Expo

October 26, 2011

Panini America will be making its second straight appearance at the Fall Expo when this year’s 2011 Toronto Sportcard and Memorabilia Expo begins November 11 at the Toronto International Centre.

To be sure, collectors won’t see a sophomore slump when Panini America dazzles hockey collectors with another of its trademark, show-stopping wrapper redemption programs.

Panini America officials have developed a unique show-exclusive, nine-card redemption set featuring three key rookies that just laced ‘em up and took the ice, three Legends (limited to just 399 copies), two Team Colors cards (limited to just 599 copies) and wait for it . . . the return of the signed Rookie Patch cards (limited to just 25 or less).

Randomly inserted into packs will be limited-edition autographed versions of the base set (including Sidney Crosby and Steven Stamkos) and the rookies (Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Gabriel Landeskog).

Collectors will receive two-card Expo-exclusive packs for opening boxes of Panini America’s NHL roster of products, including (details on how many per box to follow):

2010-11 Pinnacle
2010-11 Luxury Suite
2010-11 Contenders
2010-11 Zenith
2011-12 Score Hockey

Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance to find out about the company’s plans for instant-win prizes and Box Wars at the Expo, but for now here’s a look at the checklist and an early look at some of the base cards.

I remember seeing the videos from last year on this, and I’m sure you’ll have garbage cans full of wrappers like last year.

Looks great… wish I could get up to Toronto for the show. So will the base cards be both auto and non-auto (the images shown have the sticker slots so wasn’t sure)? Either way, pretty sweet.

Good question Josh, this a production samples so they just show where the auto will go for some. The base set will not be autographed.

Nice… BTW, kuddos on Panini creating a custom set for the event rather than putting a foil stamp on an existing card. Great change!

We actually always create a custom base set, with stamped cards being a bonus – stay tuned we’ll have more info on that, too.

Hi, Looking forward to seeing Panini again at the EXPO. Those other guys need to be shown how to run a Corporate booth for the customers needs. Can you give us an update on the TBD rookie cards from Certified, it’s a year later now! Also, could you look into 2 Red Seguin’s I’m still waiting for? (129575 & 132104) and 2 Limited Seguin RC (163243 & 173142) , as well 1 Eberle (#163825).
    Thanks.

Will cards from the other major sports be included in the packs like last year? Or is it only hockey this time around?

Hey, I think doing redemptions for Dominion would be a fantastic idea! Beefing it up for people willing to put out that amount of cash, very smart! Your competition doesn’t think like that, it will set you apart.
