Panini America On Location: More Wrapper Mayhem on Day 2 at 2012 Toronto Fall Expo

November 11, 2012

TORONTO, Ontario — Day 2 at the 2012 Toronto Fall Expo started with the Panini America team arriving to a line of sports collectors and autograph seekers wrapped all the way around the International Centre. The scene here has become synonymous with what has simply become one of the most fantastic sports card and memorabilia shows north of the U.S. border. Of course, Panini America has been here every step of the way to capture the event from start to finish.

There’s always a ton of variety at the Toronto Expo show, and this year has been no different. From the wrapper-redemption variety at the Panini America booth to the autograph guests — there is  something for everyone. In fact, former professional wrestling and Tennessee Volunteer basketball superstar Kevin Nash stopped by to sign autographs for fans and bust a few packs of Panini America product.

We provided highlights from Saturday’s second day at the 2012 Toronto Fall Expo in the massive gallery below.  Be sure to stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for coverage of the final day here in Toronto.

In addition to providing can’t-miss images from the show, we’re also going to be awarding some sweet prizes, including Expo-only autographed cards and wrapper-redemption packs. And all you have to do to be eligible to win is comment on your favorite photos from the event, beginning with yesterday’s Day 1 gallery and continuing the below Day 2 gallery.

And just in case you forgot, you can still get wrapper-redemption packs even if you can’t make it to the 2012 Toronto Fall Expo this weekend.  All you have to do is go online at iCollectPanini.com and purchase select Panini products from now through Monday (while supplies last) and we will send you the same packs that are available from the show floor!

I’m pretty jealous of the collectors here, looks like a blast. The joy of collectors of all ages shows what a great event it is. Even though I’m a Cowboy hater, that triple patch is pretty sweet

Lots of sick patches! Love the shots of the kids holding their hits!!!

I think the best shot is of the line of people waiting to get in. To those people who say the hobby is dead, all they need to see is that kind of dedication + the excitement of opening boxes or the redemption packs to see that the hobby is alive and kicking!!!

The reminders that ex-Flyers Simon Gagne, Jeff Carter, etc are Stanley Cup Champions makes me sad a bit for my hometown Flyers, though.

    Thanks for keeping us updated!!!

Is that a super oversized jumbo jersey card of Gordie Howe 😮 SICK!!! And those Mammoth patches are also absoulutely Magic!

It’s always fun to watch pics of people being happy, especially in combination with beautiful cards. It makes me smile too! Have a great last day at the Expo!

Still loving the kid photos! Saw an Americana box sitting on the table! That’s great that Americana can make it to predominantly hockey/sports show. Love sharing the Americana with my kids- great history and women’s soccer!

A Kevin Nash appearance? WOW! He’s a pro wrestling legend, those are definitely my favorite shots of this gallery! Thanks Chris and everyone at Panini!

PS – On a technical question, for the contest can we comment here to be eligible or do we have to comment on each individual photo we like? Because I am having problems finding the path to comment on individual photos on mobile. Thanks for the answer!

I’m not entering the contest but I was at the second day of the card show and compared to the spring show that happened in Toronto, Panini did a bad job of the redemption program. Last year we were allowed to buy pack such as 4 hockey elites to get a pack of one redemption. This year we had only had the option to buy full boxes. Sorry Panini that I can’t effort boxes to participate, I’m not gonna spend money on hockey scores that does not have any hits just to get one pack of redemption. I talked to the Panini reps at the show and they were no help at all. I understand this is time for you too sell more boxes but try to do something for the majority of collectors who can’t spend that much money during this tough time in the economy.

I’m already looking forward to the next show, hope you do a better job

I honestly think they did it this way this year because of the lockout and there are not many new hockey products out yet. I know last year that you did have to buy a full box of Score still to get one redemption pack, so that part didn’t change.

For me…I am putting my comment as a combination…the most important thing about the photos other than rocking cards..is all of the happy faces having fun doing a great hobby. That is the most important part!

I remember standing in that line earlier this year for the Hasek signing weekend. Always a great time to see the athletes and all of the products, unfortunately couldn’t make it this time around. The Dareus jumbo and the promotional items for Howe – good stuff!

I’m wishing I had a case of 12-13 Certified Hockey to open right now. I can’t imagine how fun that would be. I need to get myself to the expo. Expo 2013 here I come!

I’m hoping you’re still accepting entries for the contest part of this post, but if not, it doesn’t matter. 🙂 Anyways, my personal favorite pick of both days happened to be seeing the people waiting in line just to get in. I personally remember doing that myself in the ’90’s when I lived in Toronto for awhile for school. Of the cards pulled and showed, I’d have to admit, I’m partial to the Crosby jersey that was pulled, but hey, I’m a Penguins fan. lol. Otherwise, I’m digging that Adam Henrique on the Day 1 gallery with it’s triple colors. I would love to be able to pull a card like that myself in the future!
