Panini Peek: 2012-13 Elite Basketball

November 12, 2012

With each new Panini Peek NBA product preview we post, we’re really starting to enjoy and appreciate the true potential of a full season’s worth of releases. After a most non-traditional 2011-12 season limited us to just five new products (NBA Hoops, Preferred, Past & Present, Limited and Gold Standard), the 2012-13 roster is starting to come together nicely.

The collectibles world is already buzzing about next month’s release of 2012-13 Prizm Basketball and we recently previewed returning juggernaut 2012-13 Contenders Basketball, which releases in early January. Today, we’re pulling the curtain back on yet another industry staple: 2012-13 Elite Basketball.

Launching in early February, 2012-13 Elite Basketball will deliver some of collecting’s most beloved inserts across all sports, including Passing the Torch Autographs, Aspirations and Status parallels and autographed Rookie Cards printed on clear acetate card stock.

Elite’s 200-card base set is bolstered by 100 on-card-signed Rookie Inscriptions Autographs, four parallels (Aspirations, Status, Gold Status and Black Status), four memorabilia insert sets (each with Prime versions) and five unique autograph inserts. Each box of 2012-13 Elite Basketball (five cards per pack, 20 packs per box) will deliver three autographs and one memorabilia card.

The insert roster is highlighted by such brand staples as Elite Signatures, All-Time Greats Signatures, Dominators, Craftsmen and both Elite Series and Rookie Elite Series.

We’ll have much more on Elite’s exciting return to the hardwood in the coming days and weeks. But for now, simply enjoy this revealing first look . . .

Elite looks great. Passing the torch autos rock with ELITE players autographs on the same card. I have been very impressed with Paninis nba lineup so far.

Are we going to see any rookie jersey autograph cards from last year’s rookie class. I know their rookie cards have been delayed until this season, so shouldn’t there we game worn material you can use for them? Would love to see a Kyrie Irving RPA.

I’ve always liked the design and style of ELITE. More great stuff here as well. I think the die-cuts were the most interesting part.

Are there gonna be any rookie base in this product and is the Knight what they’ll look like?

I’d like to see the photography go back to the in game action shots from back in the day as opposed to a still shot of the player & nothing else in the background. Also, bring back the complete career stats as opposed to just a one year summary. Things I miss about collecting cards.
