Panini America 2012 Prizm Football Rookie Cards (52)

Over the last month or so, we’ve shared beaming bits and eye-popping pieces of just about everything that 2012 Prizm Football will offer when it releases to the hobby next Wednesday. But one aspect of Panini America’s newest NFL product that hasn’t been touched upon in great detail — at least until today — are the Rookie Cards.

Indeed, Prizm’s stacked lineup of colorful, collectible and unparalleled parallels has served to steal much of the pre-release headlines so far. But the product is about more than just vibrant colors and improved technology. It’s also about honoring one of the greatest draft classes of all time with a deep RC checklist — and a few twists.

There are 100 Rookie Cards in 2012 Prizm Football that are seeded one per pack in both hobby and retail, and all are paralleled by Prizm, Red Prizm (hobby only), Green Prizm (retail only), Gold Prizm and Finite Black Prizm versions. In addition (and here’s where the twist comes in), there are 25 players who appear on hobby-exclusive, photo-variation RCs that fall one per box on average.

In the gallery that follows, we’ve provided a comprehensive preview of Prizm Football’s Rookie Card lineup, including a few detailing some of the variations. Enjoy this extended first look and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional updates.

Tracy, question about Contenders if you get a chance. Are there any base, unsigned RCs this year? I noticed the sell sheet said the playoff tickets were signed this year. I wasn’t sure if that meant there wasn’t an unsigned version or not. Thanks!

Outstanding gallery, quick question though: is there anything other than the photo itself that designates the SP version? I’m guessing based on the gallery that you put the regular version first, then the SP but again that’s just a guess. Thanks for any clarification you can offer and for your continued excellent coverage of this exciting new release Tracy!

Good question, Tom. I will find out if there is any way to differentiate the two other than image.

I have the same question. Just purchased my first box and received the two different andrew luck cards. I can’t tell which one is the “variation” insert

I really like the pictures used for the cards. Will all of the rookies have game action shots, or will we see some Rookie Premier pictures as well?

NO MORE EXAMINING!!!!!! I want this product out already! This just looks incredible and I am going to buy a good amount and I expect other collectors to do so.

However, I must say looking at the rookie checklist, I am disappointed not to see Giants Safety Stevie Brown not included.
