Case in Point: Panini America Breaks a Case of 2012 National Treasures Baseball
Call it a case of national intrigue. On this, the eve of Panini America’s ballyhooed 2012 National Treasures Baseball product releasing tomorrow, the suspense has reached its crescendo and the anticipation is palpable. With thoughts of bat knobs and booklets and buttons bouncing around baseball collecting’s collective conscious, we thought now would be the perfect time to take you card-by-card through one four-box case of the history-soaked stunner.
This particular case was first scrutinized by Ben Ecklar, Mike Payne, David Sharp and Carlos Torrez late last week as part of the Quality Control process. So after they finished but before the cards went back into packout, I went through the contents pack-by-pack with my trusty iPhone camera in tow. The following gallery should shed additional light on what 2012 National Treasures Baseball has in store.

Great looking product. I just busted open a case and pulled the 1/1 button card of Ernie Banks and a Quad Bat of Honus Wagner, Eddie Collins, Ty Cobb and Nap Lajoie. I got a few redemptions and wanted to see the print run on those cards. Any idea when the checklist will be live?
That Frisch cut is amazing and the Verlander button is very cool, but I wouldn’t be happy with a single color jersey swatch as my book hit (unless it’s a legend). The Rated Rookie cards look like leftovers from Signature Series. This looks like a fun break considering all of the greats, but I’m anxious to see how the secondary market reacts. Anyone from Panini suffer any splinter injuries with all of the bat shredding?

beautiful and elegant design. The signatures are clean and crisp and the patches are very nice. I know everyone wants a lot of flash but the classic style is the only way to go to honor the legends of the game. Ready to see more. Thanks Tracy
High End Products are always fun. Personally I can’t afford buying high end products but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying collecting.
A little surprised and honestly disappointed that the manufactured patch rated rookies found their way into this product. They don’t look like they belong, actually look like leftovers from the failed signature series product. I really like the look and feel of all the other cards, but ugghhh why are those manu patches in there???
I really have to agree with Chad and the others that have brought this up, and why wasn’t the inclusion of these cards made aware to the consumer more than a day before release? The cards have the product brand “Prime Signatures” printed right on the front. I do like the product except for the inclusion of these re-released cards from a CHEAPER product. Despite all this I have still bought 2 spots in Chads case breaks. We’ll have to see how it goes

Any chance a checklist will be available soon with teams associated with each card (as normally you do)? I see that http://www.cardboardconnection.com has access to it, but group break hosts and others who actually purchase your products from distributors still are unable to properly analyze the strengths of the teams in the products. Thank You!
By the way, I think this product (minus the signature series cards) is a great product despite not having MLB team logos. Obviously, we hope one day that a product like this will be able to have the team logos, but until then, we could get used to products like this. Topps can learn alot from this. Just from the player checklist alone.
I beat Panini up when they do wrong and I praise Panini when they do right! Panini: EXCELLENT job on this stuff! It’s loaded with a huge amount of prospects and HOF’ers. Really a prodcut for everyone who can afford it. I busted 2 Boxes last night and couldn’t believe my eyes! The best non-licensed product I’ve ever seen!
