Panini America 2013 Hometown Heroes Baseball First Autos (3)

Some of the most beloved baseball players from the last 45 years — cult heroes, fan favorites, flashes in the pan, Hall of Famers and more — are sure to command interest from all walks of baseball fandom when Panini America’s appealing, throwback-themed 2013 Hometown Heroes Baseball set releases in early October.

Popular names from the frolicking, more-recent past of America’s pastime — guys like Lenny Dykstra, Tom Brunansky, Tony Pena, Andres Galarraga, Willie Wilson, Oscar Gamble, Rob Dibble and many more — have headlined the early on-card autograph arrivals for the product. At this point, it’s hard for me to determine which is more impressive: The checklist, the superior penmanship of the men on it or the Seventies-screaming design.

So, since I can’t decide, I figured I’d present this special Sunday gallery to you to get your thoughts. What follows, then, are examples of the first 36 signers who’ve already returned their autographs for inclusion in 2013 Hometown Heroes Baseball. Take a look for yourself and let us know . . .

This is like a whos-who of players I watched in person and/or collected over the years. I am especially partial to the Lenny Dykstra and Larry Bowa cards, as they are hometown favorites.

Out of this batch anyway, I am pleasantly surprised at the neatness and readability of the signatures.

These wouldn’t make for a very challenging “who signed this” contest, as you’ve run in the past!!

This product should have been called Panini My-Entire-Childhood.

All have great autographs, wish the players of today took that much pride in doing there auto’s. The throwback look to the cards is pretty cool but more so seeing these players on a card again is pretty epic. Looks like a great product.

Alot of these players were big when i started collecting in 88/89. Like Andy Van Slyke and Lenny Dykstra, and Andres Galaraga. Pretty cool seeing them on cards again. Wouldn’t mind a having a few of their autos in my box. Nice stuff Tracy

Another unique product done by Panini America

I still think of this product as the Past and Present version of baseball

Never in a million years did I expect to see Tom Brunansky on the front page of the panini blog, or any hobby blog for that metter.

    Too cool!
