Panini America Previews Historic Inserts in 2013 NFL Player of the Day Set (Gallery)

September 4, 2013

Panini America 2013 NFL POD Autos & Mem (1)

Bolstered by a record-breaking number of participating hobby shops, industry-first autograph cards of several key veterans and the promotion’s first-ever player-worn memorabilia cards, Panini America’s hugely popular NFL Player of the Day promotion is ready to kick off a spectacular 14th season as kits begin in arriving in hobby shops this week.

Once again this season, Panini America has teamed up with NFL PLAYERS to deliver one of the most successful and longest-running hobby shop promotions in the industry that will win one lucky collector the chance to spend the day with an NFL player. But with an unprecedented 840 hobby shops registered to participate in the promotion this year, Panini America has seriously raised the bar in terms of set content.

A centerpiece of the promotion every year, this year’s exclusive NFL Player of the Day set not only delivers the first certified autograph cards of players such as Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowler Geno Atkins, Chicago Bears rookie Kyle Long and Denver Broncos dynamic return man Trindon Holliday, it also includes player-worn memorabilia cards for the first time.

Click here to find a participating Player of the Day hobby shop near you.

For your viewing pleasure, we preview every autograph and memorabilia card in the set in the gallery below. And just in case you missed it, here’s a link that showcases the 2013 Panini NFL Player of the Day base set.

Enjoy the gallery and be sure to follow the @PaniniPOD Twitter account all season long for additional updates and for almost-daily chances to win free prizes.

Nice auto’s and a great set of cards. One caveat. I’d like to see two color jersey swatches as oppose to one color jersey’s! What? No Andrew Luck, RGIII, nor Russell Wilson? Oh well, you can’t have it all.

Always cool to see the lesser-known guys get an autographed card. Nicely done.

One of my favorite parts of the promo, regional guys that haven’t done a lot.

Very cool to see some of these guys that don’t normally feature in sets get an auto. Now please, please, please feature Jared Veldheer on a card!!! Even if it wasn’t an auto I would be happy!

This is the place to give us your suggestions for next year! We’ll put him on the list & see if something shakes out!

Please do!! I’m sure I won’t be the only Raider fan excited to see him feature on a card. Has been great to see Marcel Reece feature in Prestige this year. Makes a nice change from the same couple guys all the time (McFadden and Moore for example) even if it is just in the base sets.

I will also say I am liking how you have had a bigger variety of the rookies in the releases this year too (like Hayden in Elite and R&S, Sio Moore in Score, Rivera in R&S and Prominence and now Latavius Murray and Brice butler in Prominence).

Are these autos/jerseys going to be in the packs? I am confused. The autos were the grand prize last year.

Each shop will get a grand prize auto, with the mem cards & a couple of the guys above randomly inserted into the packs as a hobby shop bonus!

Very nice addition of memorabilia cards this year. I like the added bonus.

Any time idea of when the promo will start?

Nice array of hits for the promotion, let’s hope the cards that are put in packs are not searched out and sold as hot packs like many previous promotions. Is there any follow-up conducted to verify that these hits allocated as grand prizes actually make it to the customers and are not simply sold on the secondary market by the shop owners/workers? Thanks Tracy and Scott!

Good question, Tom. We do have a thorough plan in place throughout the promotion to monitor things. We also conduct extensive surveys afterward to continue to improve it.

Great looking cards. Glad you are doing twitter give-aways too. Probably my only chance at getting some. Nearest participating LCS is 5 hour round trip from me.
