The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2013-14 Spectra Basketball (114 Sweet Pics)

July 9, 2014

Panini America 2013-14 Spectra Basketball QC (2)

It’s not everyday that a trading card product can virtually introduce a new word into the English language. Then again, it’s not everyday a product releases that’s as . . . well . . . “spectracular” as Panini America’s upcoming 2013-14 Spectra Basketball. “Spectracular” is a word we used to describe the pioneering 2013 Spectra Football when it released in March; it’s a word that seems so apropos yet again for the inaugural Spectra Basketball, which arrives in hobby shops one week from today.

While we continue lobbying the folks at Merriam-Webster to add “spectracular” to the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, we thought we’d share with you just some of the images that have us so excited, compliments of Monday’s Quality Control and Packout processes.

2013-14 Spectra Basketball sports a significantly different packaging configuration than its football predecessor. Whereas 2013 Spectra Football delivered six packs per box, 2013-14 Spectra Basketball delivers 12 cards per box, including five autographs and at least two memorabilia cards. Every autograph card in the product also includes a piece of memorabilia and some of the designs, colors and Optichrome technologies used make for some of the most gorgeous cards you’ll see in this or any other season.

In other words . . . “spectracular.” Take a look for yourself in the Quality Control Gallery that follows and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of 2013-14 Spectra Basketball.

    Exceeds all exSPECTRAtions!
Those die-cuts are so sharp…you could remove a kidney; love the way they’ve been incorporated.
If I have one criticism it’s that, on some of the oversized autographed patch cards, the autos are poorly placed. I am referring to the Avery Johnson and Anthony Mason cards; the autos look like they were added as an afterthought. Aside from that small observation…
What a remarkable gallery and a beautiful, tight gallery!
