Panini America 2014-15 Prestige Basketball Premium Teaser (2)

The venerable Prestige Basketball brand will usher in a bold, new collecting frontier when it starts hitting store shelves early next week. For the first time ever, Prestige Basketball (featuring five distinct configurations) will be available exclusively at Target stores. The first of three Target-exclusive NBA products Panini America will release for the 2014-15 season, 2014-15 Prestige Basketball will go live in most Target outlets as soon as Monday.

2014-15 Prestige Basketball will be available in Premium Boxes ($200 SRP), Plus Boxes ($65 SRP), Blaster Boxes ($20 SRP), Hanger Boxes ($10) and in single packs ($4 SRP). In the gallery below, we offer the world premiere first look at the new-generation 2014-15 Prestige Basketball by showcasing just some of the cards that surfaced during the recently completed packout process. After that, we bring you a card-by-card breakdown of one Premium Box.

Each Premium Box will deliver four packs and 60 cards printed on thick holographic stock; included among those 60 cards will be four autographs (including one on-card-signed Prestigious Premieres featuring a member of the 2014-15 NBA rookie crop), one memorabilia card, 10 Rookie Cards (including at least one parallel numbered to 199 or less) and five additional parallels numbered to 199 or less.

  • Each Plus Box will yield 10 packs with all cards printed on metallized stock. Additional highlights of each Plus Box will be three autograph or memorabilia cards, 10 Rookie Cards (including one parallel numbered to 199 or less) and 10 inserts or parallels.
  • Seven-pack Blaster Boxes will deliver one autograph or memorabilia card.
  • Each Hanger Box will contain 10 cards, including one Hanger-exclusive Rookie Card.
  • Each 10-card pack will include one Rookie Card.

You can get your first look at the new 2014-15 Prestige Basketball in the gallery that follows. Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance tomorrow for a must-see reveal of one 2014-15 Prestige Basketball Plus Box.

Will Prestige be available at Target in Canada? Or is it US exclusive?

I hope that same die-cutting style makes it into 2015 prestige football. Big fan.

I know you do this for a reason but Prestige was one of the few items in Basketball kids could afford in card stores. Yes we have Hoops right now but now we lose the kids to Target. $200.00 in Target i wouldn’t want to be in charge of making sure those arenot busted into I see the mess in our local Targets and can’t believe what people have the nerve to do. Sorry just my opinion, we live in a middle size city so we have options rural place’s don’t I understand BUT………..

That is so unfair to local hobby shops. Some of them are barely making it. This is a great design and ur taking it away from them, just wow. Very disappointing

Completely agree, a lot of the people that still go to local shops like that are the set collectors that rip tons of NBA Hoops, Prestige, etc. to get the full sets, and now that business is going to a retail store that makes millions. “Very disappointing” is right on point.

Oh the day I pull a Horace Grant auto! My favorite player ever

Interesting distribution model, I think the $200 price point will be well beyond the average collector hitting the card aisle. If I were Target I would sell those only online, loss prevention reps beware. Thanks Tracy!

As someone who doesn’t have any card shops near him, I’m glad to see this! Will the be any Auto Or memorabilia cards randomly inserted in the Hanger boxes or Packs?

I thought I would try a regular pack of Prestige (hmm, 33% price increase?). Zach Randolph, Dwyane Wade, Nowitzki Franchise Favorite, Kidd-Gilchrist, Stauskas RC, Exum RC! Then I see a Kenneth Faried swatch card. True Colors, two-color, numbered out of … TEN (and I got #10)!!! No more complaints about Prestige EVER! Thank you Panini!!!
