Crusade Uncut: Panini America Investigates 2012-13 Crusade Basketball Sheets

May 27, 2013

Panini America 2012-13 Crusade Basketball Uncut (42)

The Crusade is coming — and if a serendipitous spin between the uncut sheets of Panini America’s upcoming NBA release is any indication, it’s a Crusade everyone will want to be a part of. 2012-13 Crusade Basketball instantly became one of the most anticipated and buzz-generating releases of the sports card season the day it was announced in late February.

Three months later, we finally have something more than flat mockups to show you — and, quite frankly, what we’ve seen is cause for celebration. Boasting Prizm technology, all-new color schemes and a printing process that almost magically replicates the landmark original Crusade designs of the late 1990s, 2012-13 Crusade Basketball promises to deliver a collecting experience unlike anything the hobby has seen since 1998.

Packout begins later this week, and we’ll have tons more to preview on 2012-13 Crusade Basketball in the coming days. Today, however, we going to share a must-see gallery featuring three different Prizm-infused uncut sheets. The familiar Red scheme you’ve seen before; the Blue and Black sheets present previously unseen examples of a product that painstakingly stays true to its roots.

Enjoy this mesmerizing first look and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional coverage.

    These are amazing!

I do need to ask what all the parallels are numbered out of. I believe there is Red, Blue, Gold, Green, Purple, and Black??

It would seem the focus groups must really like “shiney”, given the releases of Prizm, Select, Brilliance and now Crusade.

I love the technology that Panini is bringing to bear in recent releases. There’s a tipping point where bright, shiny, refractor, ripple, cracked-ice, un-cracked ice and other assorted finishes lose their luster, so to speak. If the special finishes are over-used they lose the very quality that sets them apart.
That said, I think this product looks as sharp as a tack!
