Inside Flawless: Jumbo Patches Pack ‘Wow!’ Factor for 2012-13 Flawless Basketball

October 3, 2013

Panini America 2012-13 Flawless Basketball Jumbo Patches Main

The trailer has been criticized, panned, applauded, scrutinized, laughed at and picked up by the mainstream media. The diamonds and emeralds have been previewed. Indeed, yesterday was a busy day for screening various aspects of Panini America’s 2012-13 Flawless Basketball. And now that yesterday is over, we can get down to peeking the myriad other pieces of flawlessness hand-placed into the product’s “sleek, Bond villain-esque” metal suitcases. (By the way, that’s not our description of the packaging, it’s how SI.com’s Extra Mustard described it, but we happen to love it.)

Today we’re going to pull the curtain back on the obscenely fantastic jumbo patch cards permeating the 2012-13 Flawless Basketball checklist. From Silver versions numbered to 25 all the way down to only one, the sickness of Flawless’ jumbo memorabilia selections simply can’t be overstated.

The following gallery delivers more than 80 pieces of supporting evidence. Enjoy, and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance tomorrow when we preview some of the set’s most alluring ink.

Wow, if only a handful of players weren’t there (the likes of Fat Lever, Glen Davis, Gus Williams etc) and it was just the rest of the stars, this would possibly be the greatest patch set ever made. It still looks impressive though – well done Panini.

I would Actually love to have a fat lever……..

In a $1250 box though? How much would you pay for that card…

I looked at the checklist and out of the 75 card set only 6 aren’t all-stars or former all-stars. That seems about as good as it gets. (Fat Lever and Gus Williams are fromer all-stars) Non- all-stars are as follows:

      Glen Davis
      Greg Monroe
      Derrick Favors
      Brandon Jennings
      Marcin Gortat
      Jason Williams

FYI rookies have there own patch set, so they’re not counted in the total.

Those are quite stunning images. The Malone patch is just so beautiful, that I will just print it out and hang it in my office at work to make me smile. At least until I can pick one up and hold it in my own hands.

The Manute Bol patch looks really cool, even thou i am not collecting his cards, but still good to see this kind of beautiful cards about him, he deserves to be in this set for sure!
    Great job!

Well I thought the trailer was hilariously bad but it`s the “picked up by the mainstream media” that`s the important thing. Job done Mr. Hackler. Also these patches are FILTHY!

  10. October 3, 2013 4:43 pm

Doth my eyes deceive me or do I actually see the words game and worn on the patch cards of those rookies? Good call.

These truly are gorgeous cards–that Dirk /25 is –wait for it——-ReDIRKulous. Plus White Chocolate, a cracking Nate Thurmond, Reggie Lewis, all those sweet Blazer cards. Are there any Sonic jersey jumbo’s–give me a heads up so I don’t have an event! Love it but will never afford a box unfortunately!

Low grade diamonds and emeralds suck, but these cards…..

ARE ALL STUNNING, OR SHOULD I SAY FLAWLESS!!!

  17. October 3, 2013 8:15 pm

Ohhhh boy. I can’t even take a guess at how much one of the Reggie Lewis cards will go for. I have yet to see one of his Prime cards get listed on eBay, but I have been looking. I’m definitely going to set some money aside for one of those bad boys.

And the hits just keep coming. Pretty impressive to have two products like Flawless and Immaculate released in the same year let alone so close together. Should make for a fun couple of months. Can’t wait!!!

Sad part about this, is that the Lebron card 6/10 patch will sell for 2500 to 3000 bucks and you should be able to get the whole jersey for that. Waiting for Immaculate

Very impressive gallery, these are exactly the kind of memorabilia cards I think we all expected from this high end product but it’s still a pleasant surprise to see the variety and depth of the checklist. Thanks Tracy!
