The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2013-14 Prizm Basketball Hobby Jumbo

December 28, 2013

Panini America 2013-14 Prizm Basketball Hobby Jumbo (1)

Between our initial Quality Control Gallery, our Teaser Gallery and our exploration of the rainbow array of colored Prizm parallels, you probably think you’ve seen all their is to see when it comes to Panini America’s 2013-14 Prizm Basketball product. But on the heels of yesterday’s hobby launch, we actually have more news to share: 2013-14 Prizm Basketball will also include a hobby-exclusive Jumbo version that releases January 8 and features Jumbo-only Light Blue Die-Cut Prizms (numbered to 199), Orange Prizms (numbered to 60) and 1/1 Black Mosaic Prizms.

Each Prizm Jumbo box delivers 150 total cards (15 cards per pack, 10 packs per box) including four autographs. Light Blue Die-Cut Prizms fall roughly 1.5 per pack, Orange Prizms fall one in every five packs and base Prizm parallels fall one in six packs. The following gallery provides a comprehensive visual review of the recently completed Quality Control process for 2013-14 Prizm Basketball Hobby Jumbo.

For those counting at home (and we know you are), here’s the breakdown of where the various 2013-14 Prizm Basketball parallels fall across all versions of the product:

  • Purple Prizm Die-Cuts and Black Prizms are exclusive to base Hobby.
  • Light Blue Prizm Die-Cuts, Orange Prizms and Black Mosaic Prizms are exclusive to Hobby Jumbo.
  • Green Prizms are exclusive to all retail SKUs; Red Prizms are exclusive to Target, Blue Prizms are exclusive to Walmart.
  • Red White and Blue Mosaic Prizms are exclusive to retail Multi-Packs.

Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of 2013-14 Prizm Basketball. But for now, enjoy the gallery.

I’m curious about the rate of RC autos in both “regular” Prizm and Jumbo Prizm boxes. One of the boxes of regular Prizm I busted yesterday had no RC autos but rather 2 low-end autos. Seems at least one RC auto would be nice per regular and 2 per Jumbo. Is there “pull” rate for RC autos?

Any word on a Redemption Card Update for this week?
I know this has nothing to do with the Prizm Sets, but didn’t know where else to post this for the info. I’m sure there’s other people wondering as well.

Love all the die-cuts and colored parallels. Seeing old school players like Darryl Dawkins and Bobby Jones (along with Dr. J of course) brings back memories.

    Cool insert themes as well!!

These are beautiful, but it feels like you’re taking last year’s most successful Basketball release and watering it down. Too many parallels, filler autos. That describes almost all your products from the affordable to to Ultra high end. Please stop making it about more profits and put some collecting back into your product. Less is more. That doesn’t apply to your average memorabilia card, so change that.
