Carolina Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton Voted Week 4 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week
Voters on NFL.com have made their choice. Quarterback CAM NEWTON of the Carolina Panthers is the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for games played on October 2-3, the NFL announced today.
Newton threw for 374 yards, one touchdown and one interception, and rushed for 35 yards and two scores in the Panthers’ 34-29 loss to the Chicago Bears. Newton currently ranks third in the NFL with 347 yards passing per game.
Newton was selected from among five finalists through fan votes on NFL.com/rookies. The other finalists were cornerback MARCUS GILCHRIST of the San Diego Chargers, wide receiver A.J. GREEN of the Cincinnati Bengals, wide receiver JULIO JONES of the Atlanta Falcons and linebacker RYAN KERRIGAN of the Washington Redskins.
After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January. The winner will be announced at a press conference at Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.
This is Pepsi’s tenth year as the official soft drink sponsor of the NFL and the tenth year that Pepsi will present the NFL Rookie of the Week and NFL Rookie of the Year awards.

yes!! i voted for him, posted to panini wall and my own and glad to see him finally get the win and the respect!!
How did he win this week? I could have seen him maybe win 1 of the first two weeks, but he didn’t even do that much last week. Doesn’t make much sense.
It’s all up to a public vote. Maybe voters were making up for not choosing him during the first three weeks. I just wonder how Stevan Ridley didn’t get nominated.
Yeah Ridley is a beast! I picked up some cards of him from ebay super cheap before the game last week. Good thing I did, they have all atleast doubled in value. My favorite is my Rookie Revolution 2 color Patch Auto of him. Sick card!
This is so good for Panthers moral. I think Cam is doing great things for the team and is just what they needed to build up their fan base.
