Aftermath: One Week Later, Panini America Father’s Day Cards Generating Big Bucks

June 24, 2012

One week ago today, hobby shops across the country were filled with a Father’s Day buzz the likes of which the collectibles industry has rarely, if ever, seen before. The subsequent social media buzz created by the countless Tweet-worthy pulls, collection-making cornerstones and memorable moments from the rousing Panini America Father’s Day promotion is still going strong today.

It doesn’t hurt that some of the key cards made specifically for the promotion continue to sell for crazy money on the secondary market. From the short-printed Cracked Ice inserts to the scarce parallels to the staggering array of low-numbered, big-ticket autographs, it’s clear that Panini America created a mother lode of must-haves for Father’s Day.

The following gallery includes some of the most staggering sales prices that have transpired on eBay over the last week.

Tracy, can you confirm Marketing received my email with my address for the Father’s Day contest you guys held? I didn’t receive a response email and just wanted to verify. Thanks again for the contest and thinking of the collectors.

Much appreciated. I’m just always fearful about sending my address to an email I’ve never used before, don’t want it ending up in the wrong hands. 🙂 Hope all is well over there at Panini.

Are you guys going to put out a checklist for all the cards that were produced for the Fathers Day Redemption?

Great Promotion! My customers keep coming back for more Father’s Day Packs (we have about 450 left). Tons of great pulls: Kobe Bryant Shoe, Mario Lemieux Auto, Josh Hamilton Auto…… One of my customers is working on a complete set (without autos or memorabilia) from all the packs he opened. We will take pictures and post on our site when he is done.

Hey Tracy since u guys do these promotions every once is there any price guides or way to find out the prices on them or are they not priced due to scarcity?

    • June 24, 2012 10:18 pm

Provided their produced in quantities of more than 25, Beckett Media will typically price these cards online and occasionally in print. Other sites, such as Cardboard Connection, will cover what folks are paying on the secondary market for these promotional cards.

I’ve completed the set and it’s awesome. The addition of the Foil /499 cards made for a nice chase. I hope that the National Convention set will have a level of difficulty as well, ** cough ** Baltimore Ravens and Old Baltimore Colts ** cough **. Thanks to Panini!
