Are the Legendary Three Stooges Coming to 2012 Golden Age Baseball? Soitenly!

October 8, 2012

When it comes to the timeless brilliance of The Three Stooges®, their Golden Age knows no bounds. The lovable, slap-happy trio’s brand of slapstick humor and sight gags are just as relevant and humorous today as they were back in the 1930s.

And thanks to a special partnership between Panini America and C3 Entertainment, The Three Stooges brand owner, the merry band of misfits will be featured prominently in the upcoming 2012 Golden Age Baseball set.

The landmark appearance of The Three Stooges in Golden Age Baseball, set to release in late November, marks the Stooges’ first appearance on trading cards in several years.

“Panini America including The Three Stooges in their Golden Age set is another indicator of how strong the brand is and how deeply embedded it is in American society,” said Ani Khachoian, C3’s Executive Vice President of Licensing & Consumer Products. “There will be four classic Three Stooges images in the set. This is definitely a ‘must have’ collectible for Three Stooges fans, entertainment fans, baseball fans and card collectors as it is an unique and eclectic set.”

Said Jason Howarth, Panini America’s Vice President of Marketing: “The Three Stooges are iconic in American culture. When building a trading card product like Golden Age that features some of the greatest players in baseball history along with entertainers, there was no question, that The Three Stooges should be a part of it. We are excited to deliver new trading cards for Stooges fans everywhere.”

See! This is just the sort of thing Comic-Con attendees will be digging. Speaking of which, I have asked but not heard; will Panini have a presence and product at the Javits Center this week? Thanks Tracy.

I don’t believe we will, Jamey.

Disappointed to hear that, Tracy. Thanks for the response. I maintain that Panini would have a very interesting population to market non-sporting, entertainment properties too. This is a convention that draws tens of thousands over 4-days, no other such vendor has a presence. It’s just something Panini would do well to capitalize upon….& make my 2-days all the brighter for attending 🙂
        Thanks-

We had a small presence and ComiCon last year — and I do think it’s something you’ll see us do more of in the future.

Not this week but we were at Comic Con this past year. Keep you posted as we plan for next year.

Awesome! I don’t quite know how to feel about the “colorized” photo, though. Too many hours in front of UHF TV in suburban Philly in the 70s watching them in black and white! It seems weird to me to see them in color. Maybe there’ll be a B&W SSP version. Probably will have to pick up some cards anyway.

Will all four Stooges cards be colorized?

I’ll be interested to see what quotes appear on these cards, my two favorite are “Oh, you’re an intelligent imbecile!” and “Niagara Falls! Slowly I turn, step by step, inch by inch. I walked up to him, I smashed him like this, I hit him, I bopped him, I tore him to pieces, and then I knocked him down!”

    Thanks Tracy!

You Knuckleheads….including the Stooges…(hammer noise on Tracy and Scotts head) in a baseball product. Just kidding. Is this the first time the Stooges have made it onto cardboard?

Isn’t there an episode where the Stooges played football? If I remember right Curly’s number was a question mark.

You guys need to get a shot of that for one of your football releases.

Yes, they did. The gym teacher at my school is a big fan and has a poster of them trying to kick a field goal.
