Panini America 2013 Prizm Football Monster Box

Panini America officials this week began shipping one monster of a football product exclusively to retail channels that will be on store shelves in time for Halloween. Appropriately dubbed the 2013 Panini Football Monster Box, each will include five packs of 2013 Score Football, two hobby packs of 2013 Prizm Football and three Prizm cards from the Monster Box-exclusive Cornerstones and Building Blocks inserts.

The product should start hitting mass-retail outlets such as Target and Walmart in the coming days, providing collectors with a limited opportunity to collect unique Red, Purple, Gold, Green and Black Prizm versions of cards that won’t be available anywhere else.

Also randomly inserted into Panini America’s 2013 Panini Football Monster boxes will be instant-win Golden Tickets good for boxes of 2013 National Treasures Football. But until the Monster Boxes start arriving on shelves, we wanted to properly whet your retail appetite by showcasing some of the spectacular Prizms available.

Enjoy the gallery and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional coverage.

Very very cool idea. Makes that drive home past Walmart and Target worth a stop now!

Cool now how rare is this golden ticket? Like 1:1,000 boxes?

Good value at $19.99 for just the packs. The 3 additional prizm cards are the icing on the top. I definitely will be looking for these. In regards to the hobby packs; a 20 pack hobby box has 2 autos. Do I really have a 1:10 chance of pulling an auto out of the Monster Box prizm packs?

I like how we asked the same question within 5 minutes of each other. Tracy, can you answer the auto question?

    Hey Tracy,

I’m guessing the blue versions of the 3 exclusive prizm parallels aren’t going to be numbered? That would be cool if all of the 3 parallels were numbered.

I wonder what the chances are of hitting Auto’s in the Hobby packs of Prizm in the box…Do you think there is going to be 2 autos for every 20-24 packs like there normally would be in a Hobby box?

As far as design goes. I really like the idea of “Building Blocks” and “Cornerstone” players as an insert. I also really like the design of the Cornerstones insert. The dark stamped vertical letters just look like they are “strong” and resemble an actual cornerstone. Not such a big fan of the building block design. I guess the big letters/font just looks a little too cheasy. I do like the square boxes in the background that look like building blocks though, pretty clever.

    Thanks for keeping us updated!

THANK YOU for putting these in a BOX that will presumably be unable to “searched” as it is called. Too often these retail exclusives are in some little plastic packet and then the honest people who read your blog never have a shot at a Purple Yasiel Puig Prizm or anything like that! Bravo and I can’t wait!

I agree. Too easy to see the players in the little included mini cello packs and have them cherry-picked. This is a nice box configuration for the price.

Follow up: The Prizm hockey “rack packs” showed up at my local Target recently. The Red pulsar clear cello pack of 3 cards was covered up with an ad card. Glad to see that. Looking forward to the monster boxes. Could we have a Halloween themed contest in the offing involving the monster boxes??????? HINT HINT!

Hockey needs something like this as well! We hockey collectors who don’t have access to hobby stores would love to be able to get hobby packs every once in a while (especially for Prizm!), and this would be a great idea for all sports (especially Hockey ;))!!

Is it possible to get a autographed building blocks insert? I got one and it literally looks like it is on a piece of scotch tape and put on there! Any help???
