Panini America’s Black Friday Answers the Question: Whatever Happened to This?

November 15, 2011

The mounting excitement surrounding next week’s revolutionary Panini America Black Friday hobby shop promotion has reached palpable levels. By now, most dealers and collectors know about the program, they just don’t know much about what’s inside the exclusive Black Friday product.

That will change in a big way in the coming days, as Panini America begins pulling the curtain back on the extraordinarily cool content packed into this unique set, beginning with today’s preview of Black Friday’s tribute to Super Bowl XLV.

Back in March, we created quite a stir with the announcement that we had acquired some game-used end zone pylons from the Green Bay Packers’ exhilarating 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The collecting community immediately began speculating on exactly how we might use the brightly-colored, big-game memorabilia.

Finally, we have an answer — and it’s only in Black Friday.

As you’ll see below, game-used Super Bowl XLV pylons, footballs and superstar autographs are at the center of Black Friday’s Super Bowl insert that includes rare cards devoted to the likes of Super Bowl XLV MVP Aaron Rodgers, his trophy-winning teammates and the key Steelers.

Enjoy this exclusive sneak peek and know that we’ll be providing additional details on Black Friday all week long, including information on other aspects of the set, participating shops and how you get involved online. Stay tuned.

As a Packers fan, those are about the most exciting memorabilia cards I have ever seen! What collector wouldn’t want a little bit of the Super Bowl in their hands?

They’re going to be randomly inserted exclusively into our Black Friday packs, available at participating hobby shops beginning next Friday as part of our nationwide in-store wrapper-redemption program. We’ll have more details in the next few days.

THey look incredible!! Wished I lived near a hobby shop to try and get one of these. REally stinks that a lot of shops fail to exist anymore especially in my area. The one that was closest was an hour away and now is gone after 23 years. But love the gallery Panini!!

There will be an online component and we’ll be giving a few Black Friday goodies away right here, too.

    Tracy,
My customers are demanding. They want Black Friday packs now! So, I did what I had to do. I let my customers RESERVE their Black Friday packs today for each box they buy (started Saturday, Nov. 12th) of 2011 Elite, 2011 Rookies & Stars, 2011 Timeless Treasures, 2011 Threads, and 2011 Prestige Football. The response has been great!

Every three months, Sports Cards Plus gives a $100 Prize to the “Best Pull” (most valuable card) in each sport. I will not be surprised if our “Best Pull” comes from a Panini Black Friday Pack!!!!!!

    GREAT JOB PANINI!!!!

Awesome, Charlie. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like there’s already a ton of excitement in your store. And we’ll be rooting the Best Pull winners to come from Black Friday packs. You’ll have to be sure and send us pictures of the excitement in your store that day.

This is going to be fun! I saw some of these cards today when Prusha came into my office and let’s just say that these are by far the best marketing effort we have pulled off to date and that say’s alot when you think about the National, Toronto Expo and Super Bowl! Best part is we made sure we covered the Hobby Shops and will have something special for those that can’t get to hobby shop through online promotion at http://www.iCollectPanini.com! Can’t wait. If anyone sleeps outside their hobby shop waiting for it to open and films it – we might just have to do something special!!!

I am in Australia so is there any chance I Can get involved ??
    They look awesome

  20. November 16, 2011 3:55 am

As always, I’d be happy to have a giveaway if you have any extra packs laying around. Especially for those like me who don’t have many card shops around!

  21. November 16, 2011 6:11 am

Those are some great looking cards! If I pulled one of those pylon cards it would have to be one of my greatest pulls. Keep up the great work panini.

  22. November 16, 2011 5:29 pm

An extremly original product. Though it is unlikely that I will see any of these I love the idea. Will Panini use regular season/playoff pylons in a future product?
