March 24, 2013

Panini America 2012 National Treasures Football RG III (1)

If ever there was a trading card product that could embody everything that Robert Griffin III was during his spectacular rookie season with the Washington Redskins (the excitement, the thrills, the must-see acts of athletic grace, the guaranteed-to-get-your-money’s-worth wonder), it’s Panini America’s 2012 National Treasures Football. And you won’t have to wait until the release date of April 10 to find that out.

From the beginning, Panini America has vowed to deliver its most power-packed, season-ending juggernaut yet; one with more on-card autographs than ever before and one that pays tribute to one of the most spectacular rookie crops of all time like only it can. You’ve seen some of the rich on-card content from National Treasres already. But today, we bring you the dramatic unveiling of RG III’s hand-signed stunners, the Rookie Cards, parallels and inserts sure to drive single-card sales of the product to seldom-seen heights.

So sit back and enjoy the ride. Your slow-moving Sunday is about to get a whole lot more exciting. (And stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance in the coming days for additional peeks at the unadulterated beauty of 2012 National Treasures Football.)

Wait? So you guys have game worn jersey of Griffin but your highest end product still has event worn jersey patches? Why?!

    • March 24, 2013 6:27 pm

Primarily because the NT cards require that the event-worn jerseys be processed long before we have the opportunity to receive game-worn material.

    Wow!

Is it just me or is the centering of the first two cards on the bottom stamps really off?

So much white on the cards and I dont like the RPA’s in portrait mode vs last year’s landscape. Also the patches seem kinda blah for NT. They are big, but boring. Last year’s cam newton “Panther Head” patches were sick! Not gonna stop me from buying a couple cases, and with the better crop of rookies should see decent value for stuff I dont PC, but I just feel like cards are kinda plain for the hottest fb release of the year (esp. w/ the price increase). I really hope Im wrong (so does my paypal acct!)

Thanks for the feedback, Mike. A lot of times, patch possibilities are only as exciting as the team’s uniforms allow them to be. Check out some of the Tannehill stuff in this gallery: https://paniniamerica.wordpress.com/2013/03/02/panini-america-peeks-newest-auto-arrivals-for-national-treasures-preferred-gallery/

Thx for the link Tracy. Now those look sweet! U make a good point that I admittedly overlooked. Colts, Redskins and even Seahawks and Browns all have kinda boring jerseys. Cant blame Panini for that. May actually help secondary sales since the top rookies will be collected regardless and the second tier will get a boost with cooler patches (i.e. Tannehill and hopefully Martin, etc.)

Good point, Mikey. Appreciate the back and forth. I’m heading to the printing facility in the morning to get some pics of the product during hand collation. I’m going to try to get a bunch of the stuff that we haven’t seen yet. Should be fun.

How are you guys getting reebok patches for guys who have worn only nike jerseys since being in the nfl? Seems a bit off to me.

    • March 25, 2013 10:40 am

You’ve got to keep in mind that these jerseys were worn and acquired during the 2012 NFLPA Rookie Premiere last May. At the time, Nike jerseys weren’t available in the quantities that we needed them.

Those are sharp looking cards! Really like those. May pick up a pack or hobby box at the upcoming CSA.
